A very, lovely triptych. Beautiful craftsmanship. I especially like Padre Pio's prayer on the back. The item also arrived within a few days of my ordering it. I planned to give this as a gift but liked it so much I'm ordering one for myself.

This necklace is unique which is why I chose it over other pendants. I love that it is handmade and has a sort of “rough” appearance. It makes it very obvious that it is handmade and designed. There is nothing cookie cutter about it. I love it and wear it frequently. The chain unfortunately gives me a rash but I have sensitive skin. I replaced with a sterling silver chain and problem is all solved. The pendant itself does not give me a rash. I like that it is lead free pewter. I am not religious but come from a family absolutely plagued with mental illness. There is so much stigma about mental illness. The fact that an entire town accepts the non-violent mentally ill into their homes and treats them as contributing members of the community all because of the story behind this young woman is amazing.

My first order of St. Brigid delighted my husband so much that I gave it to him, despite how much more it meant to me personally. My second order intentionally included the St. Jerome pendant which he loved much much more because of what that saint meant to HIM personally. So, I was lucky and got my St. Brigid back! St. Jerome, I learned from my husband, was someone whose writings he was highly familiar with — and the idea of having a St. Jerome pendant truly thrilled him. He’s worn it daily since he received it from this fabulous creator of saint-oriented pendants, among all the other beautiful items, and people are constantly admiring it, just as they did the St. Brigid. He has a deeper personal connection with St. Jerome, however, and wears it with an even deeper feeling for it.

We make statues and medals of saints and other religious figures by hand in our workshop in Covington, Louisiana. I design and carve the original of each statue or medal in clay and then make my own molds. I cast the statues in a resilient architectural material. My wife, Karen, then paints and glazes each one. The statues can go outside. They come boxed and with a history of the saint. The medals are cast in lead-free pewter. They come in jewelry pouches with a history of the figure included.

The designs are wholly my own: before I carve a piece, I read extensively about the subject. I then close the books and do my own take the figure. In terms of precedents, I'm preoccupied with medieval art, and, for what it's worth, I try to work respectfully in my own way within that tradition.

For most of my life I've been slightly obsessed by those who reside in the extreme end of spiritual counter-cultures: the desert fathers and mothers, the Buddhist marathon monks of Mt. Hiei, hermits, dervishes, many saints....
