In The Light...
I have loved photography as long as I can remember. I really fell in love with it though in a photography class I took in high school, back in the old days when we had to develop the film and print the photos ourselves in a dark room! I didn't decide that I wanted to make a career of it right away though, but eventually I earned an associate's degree in photography in 2003, and have been doing portrait and fine art work ever since. At the same time, I gave birth to my first son, and now homeschool him and his brother, so it has been purely on a part-time basis. It is a wonderful outlet for me though, a way to connect with other people and share the beauty I see in the world God created.
It was while I was earning my degree that I came up with the name, In The Light Photography. It was actually an assignment for a class! Being that my first and last names are somewhat difficult for people to pronounce or remember, I wanted to come up with something different, something that would tie in my love for the Lord. So, I used a line from one of my favorite verses...."Walk in the light, as He is in the light" (1 John 1:7).
My style of photography has developed over the years, and I am constantly challenging myself to try different angles and methods. In my shop you'll find a variety of nature work, animals, and my best-selling photos taken on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. You'll also find a variety of mounting options for my photography, from photo prints to canvas gallery wraps, pillows, and tote bags. I have also been commissioned several times to take photos of specific areas local to me in northern Indiana / southwest Michigan.
