Hello, I'm Ingeborg Steenhorst, a visual artist, photographer and costume designer living and working in the Netherlands.
CREATING SUSTAINABLE
I create wearable art with conscience. Nature is an important source of inspiration for my designs. Committed to the environment I only create one of a kind pieces in which symbolism and re-use of vintage and 'thrash' materials occupy a fixed place. Combining sustainable upcycling techniques with traditional couture craft, I take my share in reducing the fashion industry's CO2 footprint. I love to mix new fabrics with high quality vintage fabrics, garment- and jewellery-parts, recycled materials and found 'treasuries' in nature. This results in creating 100% authentic and unique pieces full of details, layers and 'hidden' stories.
Wearable art pieces are handcrafted for days, weeks or even months. My collection offers a delicate mixture of couture outfits, fashion accessory, textile jewellery, theatrical costumes and textile art. All designs perfectly suit ceremonial occasions, gala, red carpet-moments and art performances. Among my clients are renowned artists such as: Floor Jansen of Nightwish, Anneke van Giersbergen, Simone Simons & Epica, Cristina Scabbia and Lacuna Coil, Aerialart.de and other international, national and local artists.
