About

A Story of Ink & Stitches

It all began with a desire to create.

Crocheting amigurumi opened a doorway to all of my other artistic interests. Thoughts of a world without color led me to write my first book, Adeline and the Mystic Berries. Her story made me want to keep writing, and a new young adult fantasy story, Origin of Ryn, was born during my first time participating in National Novel Writing Month (November 2015).

While working on getting those two books out into the world, I decided it was time to create a blog which I appropriately named: Ink & Stitches (http://blog.jhwinter.com). Here I would share: my thoughts on writing, querying, and revising; my illustration process; how I make crocheted amigurumi patterns, giving my readers some of my patterns for free, and offering amigurumi giveaways from time to time as well; fun crafts to make; what I am working on each week; and eventually how-to videos (on my YouTube Channel Ink & Stitches) teaching readers how to crochet and make their own amigurumi.

With my new blog in place, I wanted to get back to Adeline's story, in a way where I could begin sharing its vibrant characters with the world. This book has heavy themes of creativity and imagination, and Adeline is the craftiest of the bunch! Here in my new Etsy shop, I will share amigurumi patterns (as I create them) of the characters from my story, as well as others I imagine along the way. I will eventually include art prints of some of my illustrations, stamps, and stickers, as well.

Lots of fun things to look forward to here! I invite you to stay awhile and keep up with what I am doing over on my blog: http://blog.jhwinter.com.

Thank you for checking in!

I began crocheting eight years ago and it's been about six years since I started creating my own patterns. Added to that I am: a writer of Middle Grade and Young Adult fantasy, illustrator, blogger, crafter, and mom.
