This is now my new favorite shirt! Wearing it now in fact! Thanks so much :-) And I loved seeing it come from Tryon St, I used to live and go to school a few blocks away at JWU. Good times! Thanks again!!

About

It began with a dress

In 2007 I needed a prom dress. I went to countless stores only to be disappointed with the gaudy styles that were popular. I couldn't stand the bright satin, the "birthday cake" look, or the strapless ball gowns. Also, I'm incredibly short. at four feet and eleven inches, I looked like a wad of fabric when I tried on something I might consider.

My mom and I pulled off to an antique store as we were on our way to yet another mall to rest our tired eyes. It was a great store. Antiquing was always something I loved doing. Old things just make me happy. They're a mystery: what's their story? Who used it? Was it sentimental, did it have meaning?

I was staring at something, probably a book, when my mom comes running at me, a blur of pink in her hand. She thrust a dress covered in plastic at me and I looked at it. My heart swelled.

A pink prom dress from the fifties. Layers of tulle, velvet trim at the neckline. A big yet delicate bow in the back. I tried it on, the shop owners said it was made for me. It was strapless but I fixed that.

As soon as I put it on, I decided I wanted to wear nothing but vintage clothes. Obviously my funds can't quite cover that dream, but from there I grew. I opened my Etsy in 2009, right after I started college, under the name Falling Fruits. At first I tried my handmade things: crocheted hats, scarves, and the like. But as soon as my vintage stock grew large enough, I knew it was time.

After a few sales, I got very busy with college and my "real job". But it calmed down and towards the end of 2011 I began brainstorming a revamping. I changed my name to InkFlower in early 2012 and began the blog.

I'm in love with what I'm doing and I hope I never stop!
