Kate se dio cuenta de que quería ser una artista profesional cuando tenía solo catorce años y comenzó a experimentar con la pintura al óleo. La esperanza y la belleza son ideas que se cree que solo existieron hace mucho tiempo o tal vez nunca en absoluto. Es mi opinión que fuimos creados para anhelar algo mejor, algo muy real y tangible, y que si buscamos la belleza en las cosas la encontraremos, incluso en el más pequeño incremento. En la pintura e incluso en la artesanía intento hacer cosas que reflejen la belleza que veo todos los días. Renoir dijo una vez: "En mi opinión, una imagen debería ser algo agradable, alegre y bonito, ¡sí bonito! Hay demasiadas cosas desagradables en la vida, ya que es para nosotros inventar aún más de ellas". Estoy totalmente de acuerdo".
Kate realized she wanted to be a professional artist by the time she was just fourteen and began experimenting with oil painting. Under the mentorship of a renowned plein air painter, Kate began to develop a passion for painting nature. Over the years, she continued to experiment with style and subject, traveling over the globe to Ireland, France, Italy, and Japan to learn about different aspects of creating. Now working as a full-time artist, Kate shows her paintings in various galleries across New England, including Edgartown in Martha's Vineyard, Beark Skin neck in Rockport, and in the historic downtown of Concord, Massachusetts.
In addition to her painting, Kate has also developed a stationery brand called JollyGnome, where she creates whimsical cards, books, and jewelry, which she sells on her JollyGnome website as well as in a small artist collective gallery she helps manage.
When asked what inspires her to create and make beautiful things, Kate says, "Oftentimes in this modern world the only things that are emphasized or even exulted are those that are negative and ugly. Hope and beauty are ideas believed to have only existed long ago or perhaps never at all. It is my view that we were created to yearn for something better - something very real and tangible, and that if we look for beauty in things we will find it, even in the smallest increment. In painting and even in crafting I attempt to make things that reflect the beauty I see every day. Renoir once said “To my mind a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful and pretty, yes pretty! There are too many disagreeable things in life as it is for us to contrive still more of them.” I agree wholeheartedly."
