Announcement   Seeking a unique gift? I create my colorful cast stone art sculptures, garden art, Celtic Knot stone art and outdoor wall plaques for your garden or home from my original hand carved designs. I am inspired by intricate abstract geometric art such as Celtic knot art, fractals, paisleys, mandalas, spirals and steampunk, and interpretations of historic art and sculpture.

Cast stone is durable and long-lasting, and can be placed in a garden, hung on a wall or fence, or featured on a favorite shelf. I use exterior finishes and a UV-protective coat, and embed a galvanized steel hook in the back to make it easy to hang my stone art. All my work is signed and dated. For long life in your home or garden, just protect your cast stone art from chipping or breakage. No special care is needed. If you live in a climate with frost and freezing temperatures, hang your cast stone art securely in a sheltered location or bring indoors in winter months.

About

Carving keeps me out of trouble...

I have been creating art most of my life... drawing, painting, sculpting. I was fortunate to spend many years using my skills in my work in the world of architectural precast. That's the subcontractor creating the panels and balustrades and fountains that simulate real stone - limestone, marble, sandstone. My engineering background combined with my art helped me design huge eagles for bridges, decorative lintels for doors, and repairs for historic buildings.

Now I get to carve just because... and play with details in my original designs inspired by Celtic knot art, mathematics of fractals, paisleys, and mandalas. The more intricate the better. Most of my pieces start out as a blank piece of plaster, sometimes clay. I sketch my idea, put on my magnifying glasses, and start carving. It's all done with hand tools and many hours. When I finally feel done, I use synthetic rubber in multiple layers to make a mold from the original plaster model. Then I pour a custom mixture - similar to concrete, but less coarse - and give it a few days to harden, adding my initials and date made and embedding a hook in the back. I turn it out of the mold, and enjoy the final steps of applying various paints and finishes to complete the piece.
