About

Art makes my heart race. Yarn makes me super happy!

I have been a long time artist....as long as I can remember in fact. I was in awe of my art teacher in elementary school, who was also a jewelry designer. Amazed by my art teacher in high school who was amazing at every art medium she touched! And I was a liberal arts major in college. Undecided on what I wanted to do once I got out, I decided to leave and work full time until I figured life out, something I still regret to this day. I have still kept my hand in art as much as I could throughout the years. I have a love of painting and drawing, something that I just can't let go of. Four years ago I learned how to crochet watching videos, and instantly fell in love, I mean, it is wearable art! About a year later I tried my hand at dyeing, again, instant love connection. Painting + yarn... What could be better? I started out like probably a lot of dyers do, just as a hobby, but that wasn't enough for me. I invested some money into acid dyes in various colors and couldn't believe the amazing yarn that was coming out of my dyeing pot!! That is when I knew, this is what I wanted to do!

I am an artist. Anything I can get my hands on. I left my full time job last year to take of my two boys on my own, and chose to pursue my passion of fiber art. I started crochet years ago, and in the last 2 years have found a love for dyeing yarn!

Thank you for shopping with me at Iria Yarn Co. I am passionate about color and quality!

About the yarns:

I pick high quality merino and merino blend yarn bases and use high quality acid dyes that result in amazing colors! All of my supplies are from right here in the USA. The wool receives dye well which results in a rich saturated color that looks fantastic! All of my hanks are hand rinsed to ensure there is no bleeding of color. I do not use any wool wash or detergents for fear of allergies or fragrance sensitivity. I dye in small batches, this creates similarities in the yarn, but still no two skeins will ever be exactly the same. I try my best to capture the color with photos, but monitor settings can cause the colors to look different than they actually are.

Care of yarn:

I highly suggest hand washing and blocking your projects to keep the shape and yarn looking it's best!
