About

I'm a visual artist who when I moved to The Bog of Allen in Co. Kildare, became fascinated with the story, age and character of Irish Bog Oak.

My name is Paul Colman. I've always been interested in art since I was a kid, but didn't start painting till I was 25 and am mainly self thought. About ten years ago I moved to the Bog of Allen, in Co .Kildare, Ireland and discovered bog oak and bog yew and became fascinated by its story. Preserved in the peat bogs for up to 6000 years, I could imagine this wood being a part the vast forests of oak and yew that covered Ireland thousands of years ago. The bogs have given up many secrets of the past including preserved bodies, ancient leather books and even butter in an urn. The lack of oxygen in the bog creates the environment that preserves the fallen trees. I make sculptures , clocks, pens and Ogham and other Jewellery. I mainly sell Jewelley and pens on Etsy because of its ease of shipping. But hope to add other item shortly.

Welcome to my shop. My name is Paul Colman and I live and work in Kildare in Ireland producing craft products using Irish Bog Oak and Yew harvested from the Bog of Allen. Bog Oak /Yew is usually between 3000 and 6000 years old but can be older. Bog oak is a unique black colour because of a reaction over time to the tannin found in oak and the iron solubles found in peat bogs. All my pieces are hand made to a high standard. I am a visual artist who became fasinated with Bog Oak a number of years ago because of its age and the forms it can have showing how ancient it is.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Worldwide I accept PayPal.
For customers from Ireland I accept PayPal, personal cheque and Postal order.
You do not need to have a PayPal account to use their service. You may pay with a credit card without creating an account. Here is a link to a step by step explanation on how to do that:

http://www.etsy.com/storque/how-to/how-to-pay-with-a-credit-card-and-create-a-paypal-account-746/

as outlined in etsy's terms of service, payment is expected immediately when paying via PayPal, and the sale transaction will be voided and cancelled upon the third day after the sale without payment.
If you are having difficulties please contact me as soon as possible so I can assist you from my end.
Shipping
I ship my products in printed Tree Friendly Boxes from Ireland using standard international airmail via An Post ; keeping shipping cost as economical as possible hence it does NOT come with tracking # NOR insurance. I post from 24hrs-2 business working days after payment. International packages usually take 5-14 business days. This airmail shipping option can be upgraded to a registered service (international signed for) which includes tracking and signature on delivery. It's from an extra $6 (worldwide) on top of standard shipping. Please contact me after checkout if you would like this upgraded shipping and I will send a separate PayPal invoice.

I ship to the Etsy address so please make sure it is correct or send me a message.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, if the purchase is returned as sent the price of the product will be refunded less shipping, please take care in choosing your purchase, as an independent one man craft producer I endeavor to be as fair to my customers as possible and keep prices as low as possible but cannot absorb shipping cost returns. If a purchase is damaged on arrival it will be replaced, note all products are checked before delivery that they are perfect. Clocks are checked and batteries supplied working, batteries are checked as working before dispatching but may need to be replaced in due course, generally batteries need replacing after a year but may run out sooner but can be purchased inexpensively. All my products are individually handmade and are unique but some pieces may be similar.
