About

I fell in love with painting on river and beach stones.

Bio I was born in and lived in Southern California until 1985, when my husband and I moved to the Great Northwest of Washington State. We are located just across the Strait from Victoria, B.C. and at the base of the glacier covered, Olympic Mountains, in Port Angeles. We live in a rural area called Four Seasons Ranch, in the Morse Creek Valley. The Morse Creek (actually a river) runs down from the Mountains, through our valley, and out to the beach, of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, carrying, tumbling, and smoothing stones all the way. It was here that I began my artistic pursuits, by painting on the river/beach stones that I find near my home. Surrounded by mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers, as well as the beautiful, blue waters of the Strait, this spectacular, natural scenery attracts artists of all pursuits.

Art is one of my passions, and I have developed an expression of painting on stones that is unique. I represent my art as "Ishi" (which translates rock or stone, in Japanese). I began to photograph my "Ishi Stones", in complimentary compositions. I call these "Ishi Photographs", which are produced in Signed, Numbered, and Dated Limited Editions. Along with the Stones, I started to paint my designs on wooden boxes and gourds, which also are Signed Ishi, Dated, and Numbered . Soon, I started applying my designs to hand painted note cards, which I still have a few of, in the gallery. I plan to have them in print in the future. In 2012, I added derivatives of my photographs, in the form of note cards and greeting cards made from my Ishi Photographs, as well as mouse pads, ceramic mugs, T-shirts, and calendars that I have produced for me, by VistaPrint.

I have taken the art of painting on rocks to a new level, Ishi Stones are common river and beach rocks that I have transformed into unique, OOAK works of fine art that are signed, numbered, and dated. I, also, paint on gourds and wooden boxes.
