For the Autumn season I am offering new prints and cards in the colors of the season. See October Sunflower, Autumn Bouquet and the Hydrangea Suite in Botanical Cards.
My shop offers paintings, drawings and new media limited edition prints composed from my own photography and painting. I will be adding more prints over the next week in intermediate and small sizes ideal for small spaces in the home and for gift purchases. Most prints come in several sizes, and I am also happy to work with you or your interior designer to customize work for the home on alternate surfaces like canvas, metal or plexiglass. I also accept commissions.
You can see my art in person at Museo Gallery on Whidbey island and at Seattle Art Museum Gallery (www.seattleartmuseum.org/visit/shops). Browse my blog to read about new work and my process, and see my complete portfolios at www.iskrafineart.com

5 out of 5 starsAs with every purchase I've made from Iskra's etsy shop, the quality of these cards exceeded my expectations. The cards are even more lovely in reality than they are on-screen. They arrived on my doorstep in perfect condition, in attractive, simple, and effective packaging. I bought these for personal correspondence yet I would be happy to gift a set of these cards to any of my closest friends/family. Thank you, Iskra!

5 out of 5 starsNot only were the cards gorgeous and of higher quality than I expected, Iskra added many little touches to the packaging of this order that made the experience of opening it a treat for me, before even beginning to write on the cards. Her art and design sensibility complement one another, and clearly go hand and hand with her professionalism and attention to customer delight. I look forward to needing more cards, and to giving my friends the same pleasure I myself enjoyed in opening my package from her. Every bit as nice as shopping at some boutique for cards, yet more heartwarmingly personal and human. And the prints themselves are magic! I started having more ideas for who I needed to send the rest of the set to as soon as I opened them. Inspired!

5 out of 5 starsThese note cards are just beautiful and of such a high quality! They are beyond my expectations! I was thrilled at how quickly they arrived after placing my order and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the workmanship and just the joy of the beauty they hold. Can't imagine why anyone wouldn't buy these perfect note cards to share with someone they love!

5 out of 5 starsThese gorgeous images are printed on heavy quality paper. The cards arrive beautifully presented and hand packaged like a present. They’re small works of fine art and would make a great gift if you can stand parting with them! I’ll need to buy more sets - some to keep and some for gifting. Highly recommended!

I use many different media, which are often layered into my prints. This is a recent painting in progress.
Zen Garden Studio in a High Tech City
I am a Northwest native, and my art reflects two very different streams of influence here, the Northwest Mystics and the digital revolution. Seattle is where Microsoft was born, and it is also the home of painters such as Morris Graves and Mark Tobey. These artists started the Northwest Mystic school of painting, incorporating the contemplative traditions of Asian art with the improvisations of American jazz.
In my art I am deeply influenced by Asian aesthetics. I have spent much of my life as a professional calligrapher. My training in Western letterforms has been enriched by years of study in Buddhist philosophy, T’ai Chi and Chinese and Japanese ink painting, which I incorporate in my explorations of surface and mark making.
In my daily life contemplation and meditation are the touchstone. My dream studio, recently built, overlooks a garden and pond designed to create refuge in the heart of a noisy urban world. In my art I move between botanical themes inspired by my garden and pieces focused on architecture and the raw urban life of the street. In these different worlds I find the same overarching theme of impermanence and the basic dilemma of life: how to have passion for the present moment when in any second it can change into something else.
Although I began my career as an analog artist I have been completely won over to the new digital technologies. I grew up as a child "living in Narnia," with fairy tales as my bible. I often feel as an adult that a wizard appeared one day and said, "Here is the key to the wardrobe, step through the door and you can live in Narnia forever." And this would be, yes, Photoshop. Pure magic, pure jazz, the tool of improvisation that allows an artist to create in a completely new, incandescent way of seeing. I use my tools with subtlety, with quiet magic, to bring the physical world and the world of the unseen together. I hope to bring you with me through the door, so that you can share my glimpse of what's on the other side.
In the making of my work I use photography, digital composition, printmaking, mixed media and collage, shifting media as needed to suit my subject matter. The specific media of my pieces are described in more detail in each listing.
