IslandTextures

The name of my Etsy store, Island Textures, is derived from my last name, DeLisle, which is French for “from the island”, and the clay decorating technique that I favor - texture. My work is primarily hand-built from textured slabs. I also make use of coiled, pinched or thrown elements to complete the forms. The glazes and other colorants serve to emphasize and enhance the contrasts that are inherent to the textured surfaces. I construct each piece individually, and constantly strive for new designs, so come back often to view my new work as it evolves.

My work is made from stoneware that has been fired to cone 6 in oxidation. Some pieces are functional and some are purely decorative (dysfunctional?), so please read the description of each item carefully to see how it can be used.
