A Shop of Spooky & Cute Bags, Wallets, Purses, and some Odds & Ends
I started my little shop in 2020 during the pandemic. I was home and feeling helpless as I think many of us were. We had just closed on and moved into a new house. After 10 years of apartment living, I finally had room to set up a craft corner. I busted out my little sewing machine and started making masks for all my friends and family. It wasn't long before I was making more than I needed so I donated some and opened this shop with the others. I experimented with soft bags and purses but wasn't really feeling it. I entered the world of making clothes for myself and my daughter. I made some shawls and capes for the shop but that fizzled out too. Then I stumbled across a pattern for a bowler bag purse. How awesome would it be to make my own purse. Being drawn to the 50s/rockabilly style, I had always wanted a bowler bag. I purchased the pattern, downloaded it and I was off! I learned about stabilizer real quick as I was using cotton woven and cotton lycra at the time. I also learned ironing is really annoying so I opted for some firmer fabrics. This was when I learned about the magical world of custom printed faux leather. Be still my heart! I made my first bowler bag with faux leather and it was all over. I was in love. I have been sewing with it ever since! It's a trick on a simple sewing machine and I lost a couple before I got my current machine (Haruka Salt). It's been smooth sailing ever since. I am constantly learning new techniques and tricks. There are a million things to learn and Im always trying new things. I sew nearly every day. It is my passion.
