Aim for perfection and keep your interests varied

For as long as I can remember I've always made things, it's in my nature. When I was a little girl I was inspired by the story 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' not so much by the shoemaker, but by his wife for making teeny tiny clothes and I always wanted to do it. My first attempt was making a full length, strapless dress for my Barbie doll at the age of 8, and I made what can only be described as half a pair of knickers. My Mum, who normally praised anything I made agreed that it did look like half a tanga thong and it crushed me so much that I stopped sewing!
It wasn't until the birth of my 2nd son that I bought a sewing machine. That was back in 2007 and since then I have studied patterns, bought numerous books and collected a good stash of fabric. It's been a learning curve and I have enlisted the help of a fantastic seamstress who has taught me dressmaking.
Right now, my confidence is such that I feel I don't have to do the production line thing and make several of the same item. I have started to make more unique items, I may use the same pattern a couple of times if it suits the fabrics but I'm equally as happy to create patterns from scratch. I don't mind making mistakes either, because I learn from them. I feel my work flows now, and I trust my instincts. By reading more books (particularly Japanese craft books) and following more blogs I am able to play more and vary what I make. I love every moment of the precious time I have sewing.

Shop policies

Last updated on June 18, 2012
Hi, here are my shop policies, if you have any queries please don't hesitate to ask!

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
If a parcel arrives and it's damaged please take a photo of the damage. If you are in any way unhappy with your purchase please let me know as soon as you receive it. I aim for all my customers to be 100% happy with their purchase. If you do want to return your item then I will accept returns as long as I am advised within the first week that you wish to return it and that it is returned within an agreed timeframe in packaging that keeps the item protected. I can not pay for the price of return postage to me.
I accept payment via Paypal or credit card and I aim to dispatch items within 24 hours of funds clearing.
I use Royal Mail 1st class delivery for UK and Airmail for the rest of the world. Their website states delivery is normally within 3-5 working days, however sometimes weather conditions put a stop to all that and I can not be held responsible for the weather! I always ensure items are carefully packaged so that you receive them in the best condition. I keep receipts of postage, I've never had to use them but I keep them anyway.
Additional policies and FAQs
I try to take photos of the items I have for sale in the best light possible. Because of the differences in contrast / colour on different monitors I can not accept responsibility for colours not to be as expected, and I do not issue refunds on this basis.
