Announcement   My name is Laney and I am Izzybeads.

I have a love of flowers and all things nature so flowers, leaves, acorns, toadstools.. they all feature in my glass art along with the occasional character bead that just 'pops' out of the flame as if by magic.

Each one of my animal beads is designed for smiles. Each character inspired by a song on the radio, a story I have heard told to me, my dogs Izabel and Defi, my beautiful boy Gordy my little special needs cat and just recently Tekko an old man Birman cat who has come to live with us as his owners are moving abroad: not forgetting all those feathers and furry four paws that have lived with me over the years. They all feature in my beads.

As well as glass, my love is writing and I currently write a monthly piece on living with a brain damaged special needs cat for Cat World magazine. I have had stories published and am working on that novel!

I don't cook, can't cook, don't shop - I have a great husband, two grown up kids that still live at home but are rarely here despite leaving mountains of washing and I love pottering in the garden amongst the wild flowers... they are only weeds if you let them be called that!

Please make sure you read my shop policies before purchase, any questions email me and I will answer asap.

All my beads are made from glass and are annealled in my kiln.

I use a dual fuel torch, propane and oxygen mixed, to melt the glass rods and form the bead over a stainless steel mandrel (rod), coated with bead release. Once the bead is decorated and shaped, it is placed immediately into my kiln to be annealed, normally overnight, to strengthen the glass and reduce any stress. I like to use soft glass, Effetre, Richenbach, CIM and Bullseye. All of my beads are inspected for flaws and thoroughly cleaned before being offered for sale.

I am an SRA member, M179.

Just absolutely perfect, such amazing detail. Will make a wonderful centerpiece for a bracelet for a wonderful friend who owns a horse farm.

Paula the Polar Bear is just fabulous, so whimsical and fun. She made the best centerpiece to my bracelet. Laney's pieces are impossible to resist, you will be thrilled with her work. Very highly recommended seller.

About

Hello...

I have always been 'arty' and always loved animals and my garden, so a chance at turning on a lampwork torch 7 years ago was enough for me to pack up my paints and pencils, fold my easel back against the wall in the studio, where is remains to this day gathering dust and setting up my torch on a bench in the studio my husband and son built for me 10 years ago at the bottom of the garden under the big tree in the corner.

I create most days, I am rarely still, my muse is stirred with the fluttering of a butterfly, the funny things my dogs and cats do, the memories of my lovely chickens that used to follow me around the garden and into the studio and sadly lost the big 'Chicken War' against the fox and badger that live around me in rural Herefordshire. My garden is a huge inspiration, I may not be a gardener with a wealth of talent but I appreciate each flower and pretty weed that grows between the gravel on the paths and in the raised beds.

When I am not melting glass in my studio I am walking down at the river with my dogs or at home looking after my special needs cat with brain damage and his 'new' older brother who is living out his twilight years with us after his last owners moved abroad. I write stories and currently have a monthly column about living with special needs cats in Cat World Magazine (only available in the UK but you can find it on line).

I hope you enjoy my glass art as much as I enjoy making it. You can find me on Facebook www.facebook.com/izzybeadsbylaney and when I dust off my blog you can find me there too.

Thanks for stopping by,
Laney
