About

Dramatic shape, maximum comfort

Julia Bremble started her corsetry business by selling components to other corset makers as a means to finance her own corsetry habit, however, she didn't want to just sell stuff, she wanted to help people to learn. At that time the art of corsetry was shrouded in mystery and it was very difficult to learn how to do it. Sew Curvy Corset Kits was born (now Sew Curvy Retail) and soon after launching that website with tutorials, a publisher offered JB a book deal. 18 months later "Corset Making from Beginners to Intermediate" was published with Vivebooks and the rest has been history! That was 4 years ago and the book is still a best seller, known in the trade as "the corset making bible". JB founded the Oxford School of Corsetry 7 years ago and has been fully booked with corsetry students from all around the world ever since. Many of the corset makers that JB has helped are now successful professionals in their own right. After discovering the power of networking as a tool for self improvement, JB founded the Oxford Conference of Corsetry, a world class bi-ennual event which takes place at Jesus College and brings together corset makers from all over the world to network, share, learn and have fun. In 2015, esteemed corset maker to the Paris couture houses, Mr Pearl, was the guest of honour. JB has finally had time to create her unique ready to wear range of corsetry which has been honed and tested over the years using her knowledge of anthropometrics and tested on literally hundreds of female bodies. Her pattern has an incredibly wide range of fit whilst remaining ridiculously comfortable to wear. The corsets offered in this shop are all hand made to order, and available in most colours. JB is also a specialist in tight lacing for waist trainers. Please get in touch if you require something more specific.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

Please take care when measuring as corsets made to incorrect measurements supplied by the customer cannot be returned.

Take your measurements over an unpadded but well fitting bra, preferably not after a full meal. Make sure that the tape measure is snug and that it does not slip down. Vanity measurements always give disappointing results so please do not be tempted to take a 'bit' off your measures. You will honestly look best if you supply your true measures.

If possible, have someone help you to measure to insure they are as accurate as possible.

Double check all your measurements. If you are unsure about how they match with our size chart, please contact me.

Care instructions

Corsets should be dry cleaned and not washed as they contain steel components that will rust. Prevention is therefore better than cure. In order to keep your corset clean for longer, wear it over a camisole or 'boob tube' to save it from absorbing bodily moistures. Air it after each wear and store on a hanger.

Custom and personalised orders

Custom (made to measure) and Bespoke Corsetry are made to measure clients measurements in close consultation with each individual client. All deposits and payments are non returnable and non-refundable once work has started on each phase. Completed custom and bespoke corsets are non refundable and non returnable (see separate terms for bespoke corsetry).
