Who knew what I was capable of doing with these hands!
Welcome to our little world here at JFA Studio, LLC located in Baltimore Maryland. What there is to know about us is? My name is Sharron and a lifelong Marylander. I am an artist as well as a jack of almost all trades. I am a mother and a proud member of the LGBT community. I have always wanted to be a business owner; but owner of what. I am an individual with many talents that caused more confusion about what I wanted to do in terms of business. From childhood into adulthood; I’ve always had a love for creating beautiful things and it didn’t matter what it was. My catch phrase represents my general thought about life and what it does for me. Expressing my true self in any and everything I do is about me not being afraid to be me. I love sculpting and ceramics most of all. I love drawing and painting as well; I do these activities with my children. In comparing Pride Novelties to my past experience as a first-time mom and in a since this new startup company is, in fact, a new child.
My passion involves playing in clay and getting pretty dirty. My personality can go from one extreme to the next. I graduated from the Baltimore School for the Arts where I majored in visual arts. I attended the Maryland Institute College of Art until I realized I did not want to be a starving artist. So, I graduated from the University of Baltimore with a business degree and obtained a real job. I entered my first marriage which produced two wonderful little girls. I then placed my hobbies on a hiatus for several years. Until I began realizing, I am crafty and I can do almost anything if I put my mind to it. My kids and I would sit and play in paint, construction paper, glue, markers, and etc. for hours. My children brought out my inner child and the love for creating beautiful things. Not only did I love creating beautiful things; I love creating unique and unusual items.
I love to wear jewelry; however, what I like was hard to find and/or very expensive. So, I began playing around with jewelry component and polymer clay. My first creation was a gay pride necklace below.
I found a new love for brass and copper. While nurturing my new business; I came across something I hadn't seen before and that was wire wrap jewelry. First, I learned how to make the basic wire wrapped ring. I made ring after ring after ring; before I had about fifty rings looking back at me. Then I started creating bracelets, necklaces, and then earrings. After a couple of months of wire wrapping; I stumbled across wire weaving and I was astounded at the vastness of wire wrapping.
LEARNING SOMETHING NEW IS A NEVER-ENDING!
