Julie did a reprint with a few modifications of a print she had previously done for us. She is still a joy to work with, and I highly recommend her! There was an issue during shipping, of no fault of Julie's, and she was quick to fix it!

I asked Julie to create a watercolor of my daughter and her husband on their wedding day. Julie was able to combine the best of two images. It is incredible and will be a keepsake in our family for years to come. She also completed a water color of my sister which I'll frame and give to my Dad for Fathers Day. Julie is an amazing artist and so awesome to work with. Thanks, Julie!!
Capturing a Moment in Time...Only Better
I've always loved the magic of photography...that powerful ability to freeze and capture a fleeting moment in time. Added to that, I love the impact that a single image can make...to delight us, warm us, or seemingly transport us back to a place, event, or time that was meaningful or special in our lives. And while the technology of cameras and smartphones has made it increasingly easy to capture life's special moments, the resulting images are often imperfect. Distracting elements, poor lighting, a blink of the eyes...they can all act to cloud the magic. Or, maybe the special moment is trapped as a product of our imagination and is just waiting to be brought to life.
That's where artistry can step in...
Creating art that touches people in a meaningful way is incredibly rewarding. I feel so honored knowing that I have provided them with something that will make them smile, make them feel proud, will bring back a fond memory, or simply remind them of a face they are fond of. Beyond that, I love to turn someone's vision into something real, a piece of art that they can enjoy for a lifetime or that they can give to someone as a uniquely meaningful gift.
While my digital artwork is not created using traditional painting materials, my artistic process relies on traditional painting methods. I start by gathering all the reference material that I can, sketch out possible layouts to find the strongest composition, add a value study to determine the placement and gradation of lights and darks to best highlight the focal point, and then begin adding color. Working with programs such as Photoshop and Corel Painter, I can choose to apply the color with an endless variety of brush types, on any surface texture that I choose. I can then fine-tune those colors, move them around, make adjustments...all without having to re-paint the whole image! This ease of editing cuts down on both the time and cost to my clients and ensures that the final artwork meets their approval.
Every request that I receive for custom artwork presents a new vision, a new challenge, a new path for creative problem-solving and artistry. And, I get to help people along the way. I feel so lucky to be doing what I love!

While my art career began as a traditional artist, the art that you are seeing on my Etsy site is created using a combination of computer photo manipulation and digital painting. Using a pressure-sensitive graphics tablet and stylus, I am able to mimic the drawing and painting process directly onto my computer monitor screen...and there is no messy clean up, which I love! As I paint, I select and incorporate a variety of brushstrokes, surface textures, and an unlimited palette of colors. Each piece is an original composition, inspired by a photograph, a special memory, or an imaginative idea.
Like a photograph, my digital artwork can only be seen when projected or printed. I do all my own printing so that I have full control over the finished pieces. I use Epson ultra premium, heavyweight paper, usually with a matte finish. The combination of the pigment inks and the paper type that I use are guaranteed by the manufacturer to produce an image that will last a lifetime, or approximately 98 years, without fading or discoloring. As with all prints, they are best preserved when framed under glass and away from harsh sunlight.
When viewing my art online, please keep in mind that image colors on computer monitors can vary slightly, especially if the monitor has not been calibrated. Also, my images have been reduced in size for this website and may appear slightly pixelated or blurred. Your print will not show any pixelation.
If you have an interest in digital painting or want to learn more about the custom art process, please feel free to contact me. I love chatting, even if it's only through emails :)
