My obsession with creating things with my hands began as a child.

My obsession with making things with my hands began as a child. I learned to knit, crochet and sew at a very young age. I always loved making hand made gifts for my family and friends. (Most of them liked it too).

Two years ago, my husband gave me a glass kiln for my birthday (I didn't even know I liked fused glass art). I guess he thought I didn't have enough hobbies. He learned to rue that purchase, because ever since I have been obsessed over it. I set my alarm for 4:15 am so I can hit my studio before I have to get ready for my big girl job as a credit manager for a manufacturer of work station cranes.... I know, it's quite a contrast to my creative side.

I love working with all the "fancy" pretty purchased glass to create works of art. I love experimenting with different colors, textures and designs along with different firing schedules. There are some successes, some failures and some failures that are happy ones. But it is ALWAYS fun!

Another medium I am obsessed with is working with recycled glass. Cutting bottles or forming bottles in forms is so much fun. I have all the bars in town saving wine and liquor bottles... For more that one reason, I am so happy I do not live in a dry town :)

All my art is designed by me (I always have a small sketch pad with me). All my glass is hand cut free hand. I don't use a cutting straight edge - all cutting is free form. It's way more fun! I never use factory cut forms or pieces.

I get my inspiration from nature and art. Sometimes my husband Ken even has a good idea or two.

I am also a certified group fitness instructor and Zumba instructor. If you're ever in the Rochester NY area, give me a holler if you want to come to a boot camp or Zumba class.

Hi! Welcome to my shop, JWil Studio. I LOVE (and so do you, or you wouldn't be here) everything that has to do with creating things with your hands. All my items are my own designs and are hand crafted in my home studio.

This shop is devoted to fashion for you and your home, consisting of fused glass art from jewelry to home décor. Raw materials ranging from recycled wine and beer bottles to very pricy dichroic glass.

Look for my other shops under the umbrella JWil Studio - where original designs are developed and hand crafted using knit, crochet and sewing techniques to create fashion for you and your home.

I really can't help myself.
