Announcement   I decided to take my shop out of vacation mode, with every good intention of being able to start creating things again some time next week. We are just about finished with the home remodel we have been working on, and I can't wait to get back to my artwork. We are moving back to Spicewood, Texas, a large area of land between Austin and Marble Falls. Many miles of beautiful Lake Travis run through the hills of Spicewood.

I plan on keeping all of my coastal connections, and I will be back and forth. I need the salt air to keep me creative. Now for the rest of the story.....

Welcome to Happy Home Design....Art. My name is Janet Dineen, and I have been working from my home studio in Aransas Pass, located on the Gulf Coast of Texas, way down south near Corpus Christi.

I make each item to order, and I specialize in custom orders, so if you are thinking of a color or size that is not shown, please ask me, and I can probably make it for you.

I have my work for sale at The Treehouse Art Collective in Corpus Christi, the Art Center in Rockport, The Art Center in Port Aransas, Island Made Art in Port Aransas and Texas by Design in Rockport.

I enjoy almost all of the many steps involved in creating the items that I make. From the cutting of the wood, to the sanding and priming, (ok, I really don't like the sanding part), to the painting, and finally the epoxy. Each step is a different job. Lazy Susan Centerpieces are my best sellers right now. They are fun and functional art, and can be used as wedding centerpieces, house warming gifts or a nice addition to your family table!

Mosaic Art is my other specialty. I have been making mosaic art for over 25 years. Mosaics take a long time, so I don't do a lot of them. Most of my mosaics are made as custom requests. I have sixhouse number art plaques hung in Port Aransas on homes, and one in Rockport. If you would like to drive by where they are, contact me and I will let you know what street they are on.

My about page has more info as to how to get in touch with me, or if you would like to visit my tiny studio and see how it happens or request a custom order.

I appreciate each and every like and favorite, and especially sales and feedback. I work hard and do my best to create nice looking, quality work. Art is never perfect, so you might find a few flaws. I try my best. Thank you for stopping by, and please rr pets!!

After years of fighting off bugs, dust, fuzz and dog hair, I built a box with a screen on top.

About

Happy Art Helps to Make a Happy Home!

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my little shop on Etsy. My name is Janet DIneen, and what you see here is a big part of my world.
I work from my home studio in Aransas Pass. Texas where we live in a tiny house, well... not the extreme tiny house, but it is pretty small; only 520 square feet. I live with my husband Mike, and our very happy 11 year old Terrier mix named Auggie. Aransas Pass is just a few miles and a ferry ride away from Port Aransas, one of the most popular beach destinations in Texas. We are parents to three grown kids and three grand kiddos. All the kids live in Austin.

I have always been creative, and have taken tons of art classes throughout the years. The way I got into the wood cutting part of my art was my training as a trim carpenter. Back in 1997, I was working at a resort in the food and beverage department. I had been there for about fifteen years, and I was feeling like I needed a change. I had some guy friends that were carpenters, and I asked them if I could work for them. When I finally got the nerve to quit my real job, I went to work as a trim carpenter. They taught me how to use power tools and I totally loved it. I would bring home scrap wood and make things. It was a whole new world with all kinds of possibilities. I worked with them for about ten years, until I moved from Austin to the coast. I am so grateful that I had that opportunity.

Although I do a lot of my work outside, I always need to do the epoxy step of my Lazy Susan's inside. This is because of flying insects, especially mosquito's. They can get pretty ferocious around here! My husband Mike recently built a little 10 x 12 studio, right across from our kitchen door to help keep some of the mess out the house. I am so happy with my little art cave! This is now where most of my creating happens.

If you live nearby, or you are visiting the Texas Coastal Bend, and you would like to stop by, just convo me and I will send you my number. If you are out and about, you can find my work in Port Aransas at "The Art Center" on Allister, in Aransas Pass at "The Rialto Theater'" in downtown Aransas Pass, and In Corpus Christi at "The Treehouse Art Collective" on Waterstreet near the Surf Museum.

I hope you enjoy my work. Custom orders are always welcome, no matter how strange you might think they sound. I like a good challenge!
I will sign off with a couple of requests, things that are important to me. Please spay or neuter your pets, and try to recycle all that you can. Thank you for your visit. Janet DIneen

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

Yes, I can cut the Lazy Susan's smaller or larger. I don't like to go over 24" when using the 2 part epoxy. I will make them bigger if you want only a varnish finish.

Custom and personalized orders

Yes, custom orders are my specialty. Contact me with your ideas, and we will go from there.

Sizing details

I am willing to talk to you about different sizes. I try not to go over 21 inches with the wood items that I coat with epoxy. The epoxy is very tricky to work with, and the larger the area, the more room for defects. I do my best, and work very hard to get a nice finish.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you order a Lazy Susan, I usually ship them in a clean, new Pizza Box. It says, Made especially for you on the box. Under that, I write the buyer, or gift recipient's name on a tag and tape it to the box. I ship in plain brown paper. If you would like me to ship to a special someone, no problem. When they open it, they will be totally confused. I can enclose a card. I love that stuff, so don't hesitate to ask. I work for you! (and I am trying sooo hard to get good reviews! (I must be honest)
