About Jane Hall
I’m an artist and designer focusing on the use of colour and pattern in the domestic environment. I love colour in all its exotic richness, and delight in creating objects — furniture, throws, accessories, lampshades, drapes, cushions you name it — that create emotion, or surprise, or harmony (sometimes all three) in the observer.
Operating from Toronto, Canada, I provide colour consultations and interior design services to homeowners , and create an eclectic range of custom furniture and objets d’art in what has become my trademark “Jane Hall Style.”
Parlaying a 50 year love affair with fabric and a university degree in fine art and anthropology into a 45 year career, I have constantly reinvented myself as an artist, blogger, business owner, crafter, fashion designer, furniture maker, imaginer of infinite possibilities, interior designer, marketer, mother, painter, photographer, project manager, researcher, retailer, thinker, wallpaper designer, web creator and now Etsy Shop owner
A signature piece is Jane's hand-painted chairs — fine art canvases you can sit on— and reupholstered classic furniture with stunningly arranged fabrics in dramatic, unexpected combinations of colour and patterns. This furniture is totally unique, often made from clients' family treasures, or pieces I have found at one of my favourite haunts. It is “green” with new life, and “repurposed” with five or six or more different, artfully arranged fabrics sewn or quilted together by my talented “elves” and couriered to customers the world over.
