About

A Gradually Expanding Painting Practice

I am Chicago area architect and watercolor painter. I paint in a cozy corner of my home and en plain air around Chicago and in the places to which I travel. I opened my Etsy shop in 2009. My shop began modestly with the idea to create and sell postcards of my paintings. Gradually, both my painting practice and my shop expanded to include original paintings, prints, and custom painting projects. I have exhibit two collections of paintings: “At the Heart of the City: Western Avenue in 24 Paintings” and "This is Home."

My shop and the pieces I sell are influenced by my background as an architect, my interest in Chicago, and my eager consumption of new experiences: travel beyond my city and exploration of new places within my city. My work is inspired by the meditative opportunity provided by painting, to be truly present in focusing on the painting subject. Watercolor and pencil is my primary medium, but I enjoy experimenting with watercolor combined with ink and charcoal, and with various boards and papers.

I believe that Etsy provides a tremendous opportunity to connect artists to art lovers, with whom they would not otherwise have been connected. I relish the opportunity to create custom paintings which commemorate a person’s special memories, as well as to offer original art and prints at a range of costs. I aim for every client to be 100% satisfied with their purchase.
