How I found my inner artist

When my children were very young my favorite activity with them was always play doh. I loved rolling out perfect snakes and making shapes out of them. When I finally had some extra time for myself, I noticed an add in the paper for pottery classes at a local studio. I wasted no time signing up and after several class sessions I became a member of the studio. I have never been more happy to discover anything. There was an artist within me that I was not even aware of!

I have since been given 2 wheels, a kick wheel I keep in Vermont so I can work in the open air, and an electric wheel I have in my basement in Massachusetts. For my 50th birthday my wonderful husband bought me a new wheel to use in the basement in Vermont.

Now I can create year-round, no matter where I am. I fire all my work at my cooperative studio but I hope to some day be able to hook up my own kiln in Vermont. (I could use a referral for a good electrician!)

At my studio I am known for my attention to detail and the patience necessary to do my carved pieces. I am jokingly known as "the blue lady" though I have begun exploring more colors in the spectrum. I never know where the clay will lead me but, I know I will enjoy the trip!
