About

One of a Kind Jewelry and Hand Embroidery

My sister and I love old things which connect us to the past. We both need a creative outlet and have taught ourselves several crafts.

Making jewelry lets me combine the artistic streak I inherited from my mother (a musician/teacher) with the mechanical skills I inherited from my father (an engineer). Chainmaille has offered me a new challenge, and I've only scratched the surface of this centuries old craft.

My sister has brought her beautiful, hand-embroidered designs to our shop. As an artist, being able to create is very important to her. She finds hand work to be very soothing and deeply satisfying, as it allows her to use many different fabrics, threads, beads and techniques. She designs timeless motifs and works with care and commitment.

I have my roots deeply planted -- seven generations back -- in the mountains of Virginia where there is a living, lively crafting tradition. Like my maternal grandmother, I rarely sit with idle hands. Like my mother, I need a creative outlet.

I've recently returned to my artistic roots and my love of fine hand sewing and hand embroidery. I look to the past for inspiration and create timeless designs. I prefer natural fibers and work in cotton, linen, silk and wool.

I work chainmaille and make jewelry from reclaimed and rescued components. I like pieces which connect us to the past, and my pieces often have a retro vibe to them. Chainmaille is very soothing to work, and I enjoy thinking about the artisans who have worked with rings over the centuries.

My sister loves doing handwork. She enjoys the creative outlet which embroidery gives her. She works with carefully chosen materials and uses historical motifs for inspiration.

Shipping
I will ship within 1-3 days of receiving your order. (NOTE: I do not ship on Sundays, as I rely on carrier pickup for my shipping.)

U.S. -- I ship using a flat-rate USPS Priority Mail box. You only pay shipping once for your order. It doesn't cost me one extra cent to put more than one item in that box, so it doesn't cost you anything extra either. You will be notified of the tracking number which you may use at http://www.USPS.com to track your package. I will also track the package from the USPS website so that I know when it has arrived at its new home.

Canada and Europe -- I ship using First Class Parcel Post. I will notify you when your item is shipped. The United States Postal Service now includes tracking for international orders. Remember that a package may be held up by customs, so please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. You are responsible for all taxes, tariffs and/or duties.

I do insure all my packages.

Please note that mail may be delayed for any number of reasons, including bad weather and holidays, so allow reasonable time for your package to get to you.
Refunds and Exchanges
We will accept returns sent to us within 14 days of delivery. Please contact us before returning anything -- if there's something we can do to make you happier, then we can at least talk.

The item must be returned to us in original condition and packaged with all reasonable care. You are responsible for return shipping which should include delivery confirmation. We will issue a PayPal credit for the original cost and shipping of the item.

We do not accept returns on custom work. All such sales are final.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to make repairs on my jewelry. Small repairs such as replacing a clasp or jump ring are best done locally, as this is less expensive than paying to send an item to me. Needless to say, chainmaille pieces are a different thing, and I will repair those for you at a very reasonable cost.

I often use all available beads or charms in a piece. However, if I do have extra beads and such, I will send some along with your order at no extra cost to you.

My sister will make repairs on her embroidered items provided that the base fabric is not torn. If the fabric is torn, there's no way to satisfactorily repair it. She does ask a reasonable charge for her time.

In an effort to tread lightly on the planet, I do reuse padding or padded envelopes which are still in good condition. Be assured that anything I reuse will be clean and neat.
