About

Gifts for babies and toddlers, handmade with love and stitches ❤️

Welcome to Jaybird and Ro! We're a mother-daughter creative team, native Marylanders, quilt lovers, sewing fanatics and helpless fabric addicts. We are passionate about creating clothing and accessories that are as sweet, silly and fun as the little people wearing them. We love pairing classic pattern designs with whimsical, eclectic fabrics that capture the imagination and fanciful spirit of childhood. From our family to yours, we take pride in crafting quality items that you and your little ones will love, for the moments you’ll treasure.

As a mother and grandmother, we've designed each item in our shop with functionality and longevity in mind. Constructed with designer, quality, baby-safe materials and inspired and tested by our own children/grandchildren and their friends, our products proudly stand up the messy, busy work of childhood.

We love getting to know our customers, and take pride providing friendly, reliable service with a personal touch. We know when it comes to buying gifts for your little ones - and loved ones - you've got no shortage of choices. That's why each and every order is truly a labor of love for us, and we're honored to be chosen for your gift giving needs!

Thank you for shopping small and supporting handmade!

Welcome to Jaybird and Ro and thank you for visiting our shop – we are so glad you stopped by! We love creating original, beautiful, handmade items for babies and toddlers, using only premium designer fabrics and high quality, baby-safe materials. We hope that you enjoy browsing our shop and find something special to share with the precious little one(s) in your life.

All of our items are handmade in Maryland, but they have a far wider reach: We donate 10% of all profits to the DC Diaper Bank, a local organization that works to strengthen families by providing a reliable and adequate supply of free diapers to families in need living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The DC Diaper Bank believes that giving a little changes a lot, that something as simple as a fresh and clean bottom can help babies and their families rise to the top. The DC Diaper Bank provides an average of 75,000 diapers to more than 2,500 families a month. To date the DC Diaper Bank has donated over 1,000,000 diapers to families in need, and this number continues to grow. Your purchase helps to ensure that all of our little ones thrive. Find out more at www.dcdiaperbank.org.

A lot of time, love and thought is put in to each and every item we create. From start to finish, all of the listings in our shop are truly unique and made by hand in our home studio: we hand-trace all of our patterns, individually cut all of our fabric by hand, and machine sew or hand stitch all pieces. No outside vendors or manufacturers are used in this process. We support other small businesses by purchasing our raw materials from other Etsy sellers and other small, family-owned retailers. Our prices reflect the locally-sourced, handcrafted nature and meticulous workmanship of our products.

Returns and exchanges
All of our items are 100% guaranteed. We want you to have a great shopping experience with us, and will gladly replace or exchange an item if you are dissatisfied with your purchase for any reason. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us, so we ask that you please contact us prior to leaving feedback if you are unhappy with your purchase, or buying experience, so that we may have an opportunity to correct the issue.

If a return is agreed upon, we will gladly issue a full refund, minus the cost of shipping, immediately upon receipt of the item. To qualify for a return, the purchased item must be returned in its original condition (unwashed, unused, undamaged), and the return must be initiated within 30 days of receipt. All return shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer, and we strongly recommend that you purchase insurance and have a tracking number on your item to guarantee it's delivery.

Although we are meticulous in the construction of each item, Jaybird and Ro will pay for return shipping and issue a full refund of the purchase price should there be some defect in our workmanship or if an item's quality does not meet your expectations.

CANCELLATIONS: Order cancellations must be made within 24 hours of item purchase. Custom orders may not be cancelled once work has commenced on the purchased item.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to message us directly through the shop. We will do our best to provide a response within 24 hours.

ABOUT OUR FABRICS AND MATERIALS: At Jaybird and Ro, we only use the very best premium fabrics and supplies. We feel that if you are buying boutique-priced items, they should be of great quality. All of our items are made with quilt shop quality designer fabrics. Our bibs are backed with premium grade "farm to fabric" materials (either fleece or french terry) that are 100% organic and grown and manufactured in the US. Our teethers are backed with 100% organic flannel by Cloud 9 Fabrics. We use Gutermann and Maxilock thread. Blankets are backed with 100% polyester cuddle dot by Shannon Fabrics. Individual shop listings will clearly state specific materials used in the construction of each item.

All fabrics are pre-washed with baby-friendly detergent (chlorine/phosphate/fragrance free) and dried to minimize shrinking. Your item will be ready to use right out of the package. Please note that while our cotton fleece and flannel fabrics are premium, high quality designer materials, these weaves in general are prone to pilling over time. To help prevent pilling and maintain the fabric's smooth finish, we recommend washing in cold water and adding white vinegar to your regular detergent.

SAFETY DISCLAIMER: Buyer accepts all responsibility for safety and liability of products purchased. All materials used to construct our products, including wooden rings, snaps and crinkle material, are CPSIA compliant. Our products are intended to be used under adult supervision only; baby should never be left unattended.

CUSTOM ORDERS: We love custom orders! Please send us a message with your idea, and we'll be happy to work with you. Production time for custom orders is typically 2-3 weeks, but will be determined on a case by case basis and communicated to the buyer prior to purchase.

PRODUCT CARE: Care instructions cards for your items are provided with each order. All items are washer and dryer friendly (for best results, we recommend using your machine’s delicate cycle, cool or cold water), except for items made with laminated cotton (such as our smock bibs), which must air dry. For longer wear, we recommend that blankets and clothing items be only partially dried in the dryer and allowed to finish by air drying on a flat surface.

The front cotton fabric of all items (except for laminated cottons) can be ironed if needed (a warm iron is safe to use). Never iron plush cuddle fabric (it will cause the "dots" to flatten) or satin Jaybird and Ro tags. The crinkle material used in our teethers is dryer safe.

As with your wooden cutting board at home, it is normal for the finish on your teething ring to wear with use; please reseal the teething ring frequently to maintain the wood's smooth finish and prevent splintering. We recommend using an organic beeswax and coconut oil blend. Teething ring replacements are available upon request.
