It was my family that led me to starting a shop. I had not touched a paint brush for almost ten years. This summer my daughter and I tackled cleaning our garage. I had stored all my artwork from my high school years and college away in portfolios. It was within that garage, my daughter discovered my boxed up art. Her amazement and joy just looking through all my pieces inspired me to pick up a brush again. She even asked me why I don't draw or paint anymore. I replied, " I was too scared and fearful that I had lost my talent." She shook her head and told me that was absolutely silly. As I have told her many times, she responded," You have to practice, work hard and be devoted to things you love most... to be great. And mom, you can be great." When I had my daughter, I was not prepared financially so after I finished my bachelors of Fine Arts at University of Colorado at Boulder, I walked away from it. I was on a mode of survival. I left myself and my dreams as an artist to become a nurse and mother. I don't regret my decision to put my daughter first, but now as she gets older. The paint brush/ pencil is calling me. I may/ or may not sell anything, but to have the opportunity to unveil old works that have sat in a portfolio for many years and to add new ones is exciting and liberating.
