Beautiful forms meet function and whimsy.

Shades of brown and white speckled with deep dark ash. Thoughtful patches of color leaping from the background.

Jeffrey's pots are individuals-- one of a kind. The form of each pot is considered, both for its function and for its beauty. Each pot is wheel thrown, then hand decorated with imagery, or left as simple as can be. The imagery is unique, and constantly evolving.

Pots are fired in a gas/salt or wood burning kiln, hundreds at a time. The process is labor intensive: the potters stoke the kiln nearly constantly for 15-20 hours, until the interior temperature is over 2300 degrees F. Ash from the burning wood flies through the atmosphere of the kiln and sticks to exposed parts of the pots. Flames rush against the sides. Late in the firing salt is added to the kiln, where it creates unique and shiny surfaces on the pottery.

The hard work of firing pays off when the kiln cools and is unloaded a few days later. Luscious pots emerge, as if by magic.

Jeffrey is inspired by the magic of atmospheric firing, by its unpredictability, by its risk and reward. He opened his Etsy shop a few years ago to find a new way of getting his pots out into the world. He hopes they will be enjoyed.

Born en-route to the hospital, I grew up in the beautiful state of Maine. I spent my childhood exploring the outdoors, playing music, and making art. My love of ceramics solidified in college, and I've been making pottery every since.

All of my work is durable high-fire stoneware and meant to be eaten off of, drank from, and generally enjoyed. It is lead-free, microwave and dishwasher safe.

I fire my work in a wood burning kiln, a process that takes roughly 20 hours of continous stoking. Late in the firing, I add salt. This type of atmospheric firing creates rich and varied surfaces as salt and ash melt on the pots.
