Our Haven In Americana

I started making arts and crafts when I was a small child. My Paternal Grandmother was a Jack of all trades. I first used a sewing machine at about 5 years old. I have always enjoyed transforming ordinary materials into something much more fantastic. I am not by any means the best painter and my drawings most times resemble something that a toddler would be making, as a teenager this frustrated me.

It wasn't until my first child Aydan was born that I started knitting. My Maternal Grandmother was amazing at this and she both inspired me to create with yarn and needles and to pursue such creative outlets. For many years we combined forces so that we could have a little extra money for the Holidays.

It wasn't until the birth of my second child (Scarlett) and the months leading up to it that I began to take a more serious approach in creating a business with my products. Shortly after she was born I was taught my a neighbor how to crochet. With this the flood gates open. Though the neighbor showed me basics (some were not correct techniques) I self taught myself the rest. I began working on hats, scarfs, baby blankets. and many other products, most however were for special orders.

I had heard about Etsy while helping my Father with his business in Arizona. Until November 2011 when I lost my job subcontracting for Allstate I had never really looked into what this site offered, and at that point I was open to anything. After the Holidays passed I finally began to situate the things I needed to do to have a successful shop on here one day.

My products really do range and I am always open to trying new things, not to say that they will be successful but I will attempt them. This shop is really an example of that. I know that it is said that you will be more successful if you have specific audience that you are targeting. My products however are a mix of everything that I am interested in.

The one thing that I have to admit that the shop as a whole has benefited from is being able to spend more time as a family unit.

Hi and welcome! This is a shop that I have to deliver products that me and my family (mostly my son) have produced. I know many shops are made for specific items, and in the beginning that was my intentions. I crochet, make recycled, up-cycled art, and try my hand at sewing. The products that I do put on here are some of my many hard works, and I am always open to trying something new. I am a stay at home mom, and defiantly my children are my top priority, I create in my down time. Which usually happens after 8 p.m. I do try to make at least one thing every night. If you have ideas for special orders PLEASE ask.
