My story in a nutshell... Or rather an avocado pit

I've tinkered with a lot of different things over the years, so my shop has seen a few changes. I tried selling candles. I tried selling upcycled drinking glasses made from apple cider bottles. And I tried selling the odd DIY project. While all of these items were fun for a time, nothing quite stick me as something I wanted to do for long.

But one day I noticed that my husband and I kept throwing away avocado pits whenever we made guacamole, and it seemed a pity to waste them. I figured that I could use them for something fun or clever, and I looked up a few tutorials for carving.

My first few attempts to carve were a disaster, but I had so much fun carving that I stuck to it. With each new carving, I learned a little bit more about how to make smoother lines and more even designs. Eventually, I figured out how to mount stones in the pit, polish the wood to keep it from cracking, and tie slip knots to make cute necklaces that I could wear around the house.

Now I'm selling my creations for others to enjoy!

Frequently asked questions
Do you eat all the avocados you carve?

Yes and they are delicious.

Is every avocado necklace one of a kind?

Absolutely! I try to look at each avocado pit carving as an opportunity to do something new.

Even if I repeat similar designs, each pit dries differently, resulting in different colors, shades, and markings. Additionally, each mounted stone varies in color, size, and shape.

You can rest assured that your necklace is truly unique.

Care instructions

I suggest handling all my hand-carved avocado pit necklaces with care. The wax polish I use will make the wood more resistant to water, but it is not waterproof, and exposure to water may cause it to warp and crack. Additionally, too much light or heat or chemical exposure may damage it.

If your necklace does get wet, wipe off the water immediately and allow to air dry in the open. If you notice your pendant looking dry or faded, apply a skin-safe oil to bring back its sheen and color. I used a combination of orange oil and beeswax.
