Announcement    Welcome to my shop! I OFFER FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL US

All items are woven by hand in a smoke-free (but not dog free!) home. Although I LOVE natural fibers, some synthetic yarns are absolutely beautiful, and I do use those as well as various wools, cottons, and silks in my work.

If you are not pleased with your items, they can be returned (in new condition) within 7 days for a full refund.

If you see something you would like in another color, please convo me and I can make something similar for you. In Saori style weaving, each piece is unique and cannot be duplicated, so you will never see more than one of a particular item. However, I would be happy to make something similar for you in colors of your choosing.

OVERSEAS SHIPPING AVAILABLE; PLEASE CONVO ME.

About JeriGillinWeaving

It's All About Color And Texture

I began my work with fiber as a "freelance" knitter, always somehow deviating from the patterns I purchased and seemingly intent on making them different from how they looked in the picture. It was a paradoxical situation: I constantly reviewed patterns, believed I loved them, and then never followed them. So,  I decided to search for a new way to express my love for fiber that provided me more opportunities for individual creativity.

Luckily for me, I live most of the year in Worcester, Massachusetts, the place where Saori weaving was first introduced into the United States. Several years ago I tried Saori and knew I had found my niche! The thrill of playing with color and texture, of being able to freely explore without the confines of a pattern, of letting the fibers dictate where they want to be placed and what they want to become; this is what Saori is all about! I fell in love!!

When I am not at home in  Worcester, I live in Deer Isle, Maine. Here, the rugged coast presents new colors and textures to work with, and whenever possible, I try to include them in my work. Lichens, shells, mosses, and driftwood often find their way into my weavings, even if they only poke their heads in here and there. Recently I began spinning my own yarn, which has allowed me to add interesting art yarns into my work. These one-of-a-kind yarns lend themselves beautifully to the Saori philosophy and also allow me to better utilize leftover bits, thus leaving a better footprint upon our planet.

Creative, freestyle weaving is the expressive outlet I had long been searching for. The Saori belief that "people are not machines," and the idea that every piece must be an original work of art is why the Saori philosophy speaks to me.

I hope my work also speaks to you.

I have studied Saori weaving for several years, and am delighted by the opportunities to explore texture and color in new and sometimes surprising ways. Although a knitter since my teenage years, weaving is now my passion and creative outlet.
