Announcement    Welcome! My name is Jes Raymond, and I believe jewelry should enhance a person's innate allure. I aspire for my work to be fresh, graceful, and inspirited by the natural world.
I believe that art is for everyone and is essential in our lives to illuminate our day to day and mark the moments that tell our larger story. I am drawn to color, simplicity, and myth.
My work is dedicated to the bridge between the timeless and timely, and the power that we each have to move in the world with elegance and confidence.

About

Songs and Adornments

I have always loved making things with my hands. For the last 10 years I have toured full time as a singer-songwriter with my band, but I have always made time to keep creating and working with my hands. My work has landed with friends and fans all over the US through shows and festivals. In the late summer of 2017 my husband and I had our first baby, so these days I am staying close to home and have the chance to explore the making side of my creativity in a deeper way. I am mostly making jewelry, but I occasionally get some paint and ink on my hands too.
I am devoted to the natural world, and try to touch on all of her elements in my work to invoke balance and connection. For the element Earth, I work with wood and stone. For the element of Fire, I work with metal. For the element of Air, I work with negative space, and for the element of Water, I work with movement, the way my pieces flow and frame the beauty who is wearing them.
I lasercut my drawings in wood (usually bamboo) or shape them with metal. I use recycled materials whenever I can. I use beads that I have collected over years of touring and finding the best bead store in every new town.
I really enjoy making pieces that are with someone throughout their day. We can only hope as artists to put a little frame around a piece of wonder and that someone else will be moved by it. Jewelry and songs are different mediums, but they are kind of alike in that way. When I write a song, it goes out into the world and becomes a part of other people's soundtracks, it accompanies them on their day. Jewelry is the same.
