In 2013 I began pursuing a career in glass blowing. Since then I have apprenticed in three shops under the guidance of master craftsmen, worked as a cold worker and hot shop assistant in four glass shops in Vermont, and founded my mobile hot shop—Lemon Glass Studio in Southern California.

I am inspired by personal transformation and finding the visual power of mythology. I am most easily moved by art that tells a story, connects to a larger narrative, or anchors to a shared experience or theme. ​Working in glass, I find these themes echoed in my process. I find mythological roots in creating even simple objects such as cups due to the cultural importance of vessels for food/drink and ceremony throughout history.

Glass blowing has always felt to me like a meditative blend of science and magic. Like meditation it is a practice that demands focus, finding center, awareness of breath, and the ability to let go of every thought beyond the task at hand. My analytical brain is satisfied by the methodical building of steps, repetition, experimentation, and the required attention to detail. My aesthetic brain is satiated by the beauty of light and color in a finished piece, and the interplay of fluidity and fragility as equally important characteristics of the material.

My mobile studio is designed for on-site demonstrations at school, craft fairs, or events. As these things are not currently happening due to Covid, I am in the process of setting up to livestream from the shop as a way to continue to share the magic of this craft with you. Once this feature is live, any items made live on stream will be marked as such, and listings will contain a link where you can see them made.

As I do everything from making the glass to packing and shipping myself, I am limited to shipping on Mondays and Fridays unless you make specific and special arrangements with me. I am at the studio to blow glass from 4:30am-6pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, which makes it very difficult to make mid week post office runs. I do my very best to get all orders out within 7 days of order, and will be in touch if there is any reason for delay.
