What is Five17Designs?
Five17Designs is a home-based business in Northwest Indiana that makes and sells handmade jewelry. Half of the profits are donated to missionaries who are using their talents to serve others. The name Five17Designs comes from 2 Corinthinans 5:17 which states that when a person comes to Christ, He takes us as we are, broken, worn, unusable and makes us new. He gives us a purpose. This is what I do with old jewelry and scraps.

The Jewelry
Each piece of jewelry is hand made, and designs are one of a kind. I try to incorporate different techniques and materials. I also like to create custom orders and learn new skills. Many jewelry pieces include elements from upcycled jewelry.

What does Upcycle mean?
Upcycling is the process of converting old or discarded materials into something beautiful.

About Me:
My name is Jessy Newman. I have an incredible husband who I have been married to for almost 5 years. We have a sweet baby girl on the way.

I started making jewelry in elementary school and never stopped. As the years went on, I learned new skills and practiced with different materials.

In 2010 I started selling upcycled jewelry on Etsy. I made a few sales on Etsy, but the majority of my sales occurred on the campus of the small college I was attending at the time. I sold jewelry, took half of the profits and gave them to local ministries or used the profits for mission trips.

In 2016 I started selling jewelry at local markets in Northwest Indiana in addition to selling on Etsy. I enjoy being able to interact with customers face to face, and have met some really awesome people.

Thank you for stopping by my shop!
