Announcement   Jewelry design and creating is my passion. I love every aspect of it, from coming up with a design to wrapping up a purchase. Whether it's a gift for a friend or a treat to yourself, each piece is made with love, and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it.

The enamels I use are called vitreous enamels. The colors are permanent and will not fade or change over time. Vitreous means glass, the enamels start out as tiny grains of glass. The grains bond to their metal base under very high heat. I either sift the enamels or use a small paint brush to place them on the metal backing. Then the piece is heated in my kiln at around 1400° F, which melts the glass particles and bonds the glass to the metal. Some of the pieces that you see in my shop have been in the kiln as many as 20 times!

I make and sell handmade unique jewelry that will add beauty to any outfit. My work includes handcrafted enamel jewelry, sifted enamels, cloisonne enamels, sterling silver and copper rings, earrings and necklaces.

My studio is in Westchester, NY. Beside selling here in Etsy, I show my jewelry at Fine Craft shows. Take a look at my website for my latest show schedule. http://jewelrybylanni.com

Check back often, as I am constantly working on new designs. Enjoy!

If you have any questions, send me a message on Etsy. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter!

About

Jewelry by Lanni

It all started when I walked into a bead store in Norwalk, CT, and saw the beautiful colored beads in so many shapes and sizes. I knew at that moment I was hooked. I taught myself by reading books and magazines, and really looked at the jewelry that could be found all around me. But for me stringing beads felt limiting; I needed to learn more. I wanted to learn how to work with metal, and how to use a torch and work with fire.

The first class I took was Enameling/Jewelry Making. I only took it because it was offered when my children were in school. I had no interest in learning enameling, but took the class anyway. I went to class the first day, and, like in the bead store, was once again drawn to the endless array of brilliant colors. That was 2008.

There were no lessons on how to use a torch in that first class, but I had a great teacher who taught me wonderful techniques and introduced me to the art of enameling. In the next class I took, I learned how to use a torch. I was then able to set my enamel creations, turning those dazzling colors into wearable works of art.

Since that first day in class I have spent countless hours in my studio and now call myself an enamel artist.

During the summer you can find me in the same classroom where I learned, teaching jewelry making to children in a summer program.
