About

Unique jewellery and clocks

Hello, I'm Jill Stewart. I started making jewellery and then small clocks many years ago when I had moved back north and didn't really know what to do, but found myself making things, mainly in metal, and then people started buying them! I developed my own style and techniques through experimenting with the various effects of heat on metal. I've sold in galleries for more than 20 years, mainly across Britain, so already have thousands of satisfied customers; now I'd like to sell to individuals too.

When I'm making my work I join different metals - copper, brass and titanium- with silver to create colour and contrast in each piece, combining the techniques needed for each material. I start off with sheet metal, then maybe texture it in various ways, cutting shapes by hand, and etching some areas for more pattern and texture. Each piece is made by me by hand, and the variable results of the heat used in soldering make each piece unique. Because everything is made by hand by me it can take several days for me to get your item finished!

These days I work in a studio in a converted manse in rural Northumberland. My commute takes me through woodland and pretty villages, where I like to take photos and gain inspiration. My clocks show animals and birds that we all feel a need to be connected to.

Customers tell me they like my work for its originality. A special clock is a way to mark a very special occasion or to treat yourself in your beautiful new home. The jewellery is a way to show your individuality and express your colourful side !
I hope you gain a sense of owning something very special, something individual and humorous and beautiful.
