Each bead is handcrafted in a torch and annealed in a kiln.

ART AND TRAVEL

My study and practice of art began in high school and continued through college. I have always created art. Drawing, painting and now glass bead making and jewelry design have been the background of my life. What I make is (and always has been) influenced by experiences in my other passion, world travel.

My husband and I founded a business centered around facilitating independent international travel. We sold the airline tickets, train passes and gear in our retail store and online. We led seminars teaching travel skills and we were lucky to be able to spend lots of time on-the-road and seeing the world. We closed our business several years ago. Now I have more time for my art, for the road and for my new passion -- our grandchildren.

A bit of serendipity brought me to Glass Beads. Heather Trimlett, one of the country's best known bead makers and bead making teachers, happened to be the mother of my son's best friend. I took a class and was immediately hooked. That was more than a decade ago, now.

I work constantly to improve my skills and create new designs. Managing hot glass requires focused concentration and a bead with a complicated design can take an hour or more to create. I enjoy every minute I spend in my studio and take great joy in seeing others appreciate my work.
