This little owl bowl and its companion are just adorable! This shop owner was very clear in describing the item and she was very prompt sending it to a dear cousin who lives in a different state for her birthday. I highly recommend this little shop to anyone who would love quality products and prompt service!

The Story of My Joyful Little Life

My name is Joan Éilis (pronounced /AY leesh/) and I am a shutterbug, ceramic artist and collector of vintage books. I also have a passion for wildlife, with a particular affinity for owls and chubby little birds.

I’ve been in love with early American folk art since my early twenties and through the acquisition of a small piece here and there, and as my budget would allow, I learned about the value of vintage, antique and handcrafted works of art. The experiences I shared with other artists and collectors, allowed me to understand and love the simple beauty of folk art. I cherish friendships with people like me and although we are a mixed lot, folk art and the love of art in general, allows for common ground.

I am focusing on my artist efforts only and I'm taking a leap of faith by doing so. My work is about love, healing and unfettered joy, so I hope my pieces resonate with you. My goal is to encompass (with time) the entire range of human emotions through my creations.

I love listening to the programs on NPR's Weekend Edition and have been a fan of A Prairie Home Companion, for almost twenty years. I laugh at the stories and I dance to wonderful music while my busy hands work at smoothing clay into a three-dimensional form. Art cannot be pushed around and it certainly finds its own direction and rhythm… So, I’ve learned (I hope) when it's best to walk away and when to persevere. I make every item for my shop with a critical eye for what I feel is its inimitable beauty or charm. My workspace is my kitchen and I photograph my pieces on my back porch – quite exciting!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will visit my shop again,

I fell in love with photography after my father passed away. I wanted to maintain a connection with my dad and he loved photography. While our esthetics would be different, I always think of him when I pick up my camera. XOXOXO, Joan

I usually ship in stock items (i.e. not custom items) within one business day of receiving cleared payment. I accept Paypal or credit cards through Etsy.

I use USPS Priority Mail, with insurance and tracking. Generally, I ship photographs and prints via flat rate padded envelope.

If you require a faster shipping option, kindly let me know and I'll research the additional shipping charge for you. I will then send you an invoice via PayPal for so that you can easily pay the additional shipping charges.

For international orders, the item will go first class, or priority mail unless you have made other arrangements with me.

Because there is currently no way in Etsy to display shipping costs for different zones, I have to determine shipping for the zone that is farthest from me. Thus, some listed shipping costs may be higher than the actual costs. Please know that I reimburse shipping overages in excess of $1 of actual shipping costs.

Kindly update your PayPal and Etsy addresses if needed.
