About JoeBcrafts

Sales 305
On Etsy since 2015
Video summary: Carving a stove top cover. This was the standard personalized carve but doing something custom is not a problem.

Wordworking has been a hobby of mine since childhood, and this shop is how I can share that passion with you.

Making supplies for my sister-in-law's business jumpstarted this side hustle back in 2016. She needed a steady supply of blank stained sign boards and sometimes a special request. I've also built furniture for family and friends as well as a pair of huge free standing stair towers for a local musical.

For sale on Etsy, I make personalized and customizable stove top covers, blank stained wood signs for DIY, and other items from regular pine lumber. In addition to that I make cufflink boxes, charcuterie boards, wine caddies, small ring boxes, business card or phone stands, and other things from pieces of wood that were being "discarded" as firewood. These beautiful hardwoods didn't deserve that fate so I rescued them.

I work in my half of the garage and use my x-carve CNC router, sliding compound miter saw, belt and disc sander, band saw, table saw, drill press, router, spindle sander and scroll saw. I sometimes head upstairs in the house to use the sewing machine too. I'm a Renaissance CraftsMan that way.

When I am in my workshop, I am in my happy place. What can I make for you today?

I am a Mechanical Engineer by day. A Woodworker at play. I've always enjoyed creating things, and so I have decided that I might as well make some things to sell. The goal being that I can buy more tools and materials for my play time.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take JoeBcrafts to ship an item?

I have a day job, so I have to prepare your item for shipping when not at work. I will do my best to ship an order of an in-stock item by the next business day. If I can get your order ready to ship same day before the PO closes, I will so long as your cancellation window has closed (see info in Returns, Exchanges, and Cancellations). Personalized and Custom items will be within their stated time frame. Depending on workload and timing, your item(s) may be ready to ship before the stated ship date.

Custom and personalized orders

If you see an item in my shop but would like a variation, send me a conversation on Etsy and I will let you know if I can make it for you.

Care instructions

For items that have a mineral oil/paraffin wax finish, they will require oiling/waxing from time to time. There are many commercially available oils/wax. There are even people who sell mineral oil/beeswax finishes here on Etsy. The least expensive and most DIY is to simply purchase USP mineral oil (lubricant/laxative) from a grocery/pharmacy. Apply liberally, let it soak into the grain for a few minutes, then wipe off excess. It is best not to use plant based oils as these can become rancid (make your wooden item smell) as they break down.
