Announcement   Antiques, Collectibles, What-Nots, and Miscellany from 20 to 200 years ago! We are fellow lovers of all that is old and wonderful! And will be glad to share what we know about anything we have, and even about something we don't have. There is also a healthy reverence and a deep respect we hold for these items. Besides, why buy something new, made by children in China?? Especially when the antique equivalent costs the same or less, lasts longer, looks better, and is built extremely well and durably.

I grew up in Rome, Italy, and speak Italian like an Italian no problem, and have also mastered the Roman dialect, "Romanaccio". This specimen is almost a different language, based on Latin, which one can not acquire from books. It is only acquired by ear, on the street, over a long period of time, and is truly Roman in its sound, character and nuance. I have a profound sense of mischief and a great sense of humour, combined with a pink face and red hair. And there is no end to the great fun I get from watching Italians all of a sudden hearing this pink-faced, red-headed guy chewing them up one side and down the other flawlessly in a southern Italian dialect! I got my training in in Greek, Etruscan, and Roman archaeology and urban planning, as well as in art history, with two related university degrees. I've given lectures in Italy and participated in archaeological excavations. The most notable dig was at the 8th century B.C. Greek, later Roman, town of Sybaris, in southern Italy. From this town we get the English word "sybarite"! However, since there are no Greek pots, Etruscan statues, or Roman temples in Seattle, Washington, I'm content to put my skills into decoding interesting and wonderful antiques, curios, and older items that reveal something our past here in these United States!
