“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
― Ansel Adams

There is so much beauty in the world. I want to see it, touch it, taste it, drink it, take a deep breath and breathe it all in...and capture it all with my camera. Photography is my passion. I see everything as a photo op but I especially love to photograph nature and wildlife. I am never more at peace than when I am hiking on trails or walking on the beach with camera in hand, trying to capture the first blush of sunrise, an exotic bird in flight or a glorious sunset.

Having lived in Florida for twenty-seven years, it wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered the hauntingly beautiful photos of Clyde Butcher. In his bio, he talks about seeking spiritual healing in nature after the death of his son. I too sought solace in nature after a family tragedy. Clyde's photos have awakened in me a deep love and respect for the Everglades, and by his example, a desire to preserve its beauty for generations to come. Clyde's amazing photos of the swamp are shot in black and white with a large format camera, as were his predecessor and fellow conservationist, Ansel Adams' iconic images of Yosemite. Both men are an inspiration to me!

For many years I used a Canon 35mm SLR camera with both black and white and color film. Now I shoot mostly in color with a Canon DSLR and a few favorite lenses. Morning is my favorite time to trek out in the swamp trying to capture a brilliant multi-hued sunrise or foggy, monochromatic images of the forests at dawn. Gorgeous wildflowers, beautiful butterflies and dragonflies are also among my favorite photos. The Everglades are home to thousands of animals, and plants. In spring the mangroves are alive with a variety of beautiful birds and at times I have had to hike around gators sunning themselves in the middle of the trails. I never know what I might encounter and the wild rarely disappoints. My goal is that my photos elicit the same awe of nature and sense of serenity in those who view them as I feel while taking them. I hope you like what you see, thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions or requests for special orders please contact me.
