About

Functional handbuilt stoneware pottery made to use and enjoy.

My journey into pottery only began in September 2012. I quickly learned there's something special about handmade stoneware. What begins as an ordinary slab of clay is transformed in the kiln - emerging with a mix of natural colors and textures, giving each item that wonderful "just feels right in your hand" identity. I also embrace the Japanese aesthetics, Wabi-sabi (侘寂). A world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Each piece I produce is one of a kind. If you are looking for mass produced, all the same and 'perfect' you won't find that here.

Built to last and love, every item pictured in my shop is hand shaped from clay, air dried, bisqued, glazed and high fired - a 4-5 week process - before being photographed and posted to the shop. Once purchased, your item is carefully hand packed using mostly recycled materials (don't be surprised to find yesterday's newspaper in your package) to safely reach your home.

One of my favorite aspects of selling on Etsy is the conversations I have with my customers. Being able to "lend a hand" and facilitate an order or make it special are so very rewarding. True to the shop's name, I hope each of you get as much joy out of using these pieces as I do in creating them.
