I love beach combing on Sanibel Island in Florida and often add shells I've collected to my wall hangings.
Driftwood from Oregon is a key element in my wall hangings. This week I spent a few days at the beach collecting these sticks for my weavings.

About

The Story of Saori Weaving

Saori is a ZEN art of weaving from Japan that values creativity, free expression, originality, and uniqueness.

"Sa" of Saori has the same meaning as the first syllable of the word "sai" which is found in Zen vocabulary. It means that everything has its own individual dignity. "Ori" means weaving.

Saori was founded by Misao Jo (1913-2017 Japan) in 1969.
