Announcement   A Joyful Yarn is dedicated to the creation of high quality, affordable art while contributing to positive social change.

Welcome to my shop! I love custom orders, and challenges excite me! If you can imagine it, I can crochet it. I'm having fun expanding my skills and creating little works of art with yarn. I will happily take pre-orders, challenges, barters, work-in-trades, dares, coffee dates, and on good days, jokes at my expense.

If you follow me on facebook, you will be automatically entered to win a drawing every month for a $5 gift certificate! My twitter feeds into my facebook page. My tweets range from what I'm working on at the moment with pics (which is fun because if you challenge me to make something, or pre-order, you can watch your creation in progress!) to jokes, silly thoughts, what I'm watching or listening to...whatever pops into my head that pertains to my work. Be aware that sometimes, my tweets aren't kid-friendly or work appropriate.

A little about me:

My mom taught me to crochet when I was younger, but neither of us had the patience to see it through. When I was 29, I decided to reteach myself. I was instantly hooked. Ha. I also enjoy paper crafting, cross stitching, and lots of other crafts.

About

The Joy of Crocheting

I learned to crochet as a child. My mom is nothing short of a crochet genius. But neither of us had the patience to see it through, and when I made a pair of baby booties that were so small that a premie baby couldn't wear them, I gave up. Fast forward 15 years...I decided to teach myself to crochet, and I've been obsessed ever since. For many years, I crocheted simple projects, gifts, items for the home, friends, family, and loved ones. Finally I decided to challenge myself, and see how much I could really do. Since then, I have challenged myself constantly to learn more, and the more I learn, the more I want to learn! I decided to start my shop soon after, and have enjoyed the challenges my customers have presented me with. I hope you enjoy them, too! My most recent challenge is spinning my own yarn!

When I'm not crocheting, I work in human services, currently working with children with autism. My wife and I have a small farm where we raise goats, chickens, rabbits, and the occasional accidental family of pigs.
