On the bench today - hammering horseshoe hoop earrings. Shown in copper with sterling silver ear wires.
It's calming to be hammering metal with the much needed rain coming down. The popular hammered bar earrings are available in copper and sterling silver. These have been hammered but haven't been finished yet. It's a work in progress.
I'm loving the beautiful green in the Peridot beads. They can be made into a necklace or bracelet. The red bar necklace is one design idea where they could be used.

About

Handmade Rustic Jewelry, Artisan Crafted by Judy of JudysDesigns

My story started as a child loving jewelry and having a need and passion to create.

When my daughter got her ears pierced and was asking for jewelry, we started collaborating and designing for ourselves. It quickly took off from there. It has been very rewarding to be here since the early days of Etsy. I’ve gained great friends, customers and experience along the way.

My degree is in Art but I'm mostly self taught in metalworking and enameling using some skills I learned in school. My products are unique, because in most cases, I start with raw materials like sheet metal and wire. Designs can be customized to the client when you make each piece. There’s quite a bit of shaping, hammering, filing, sanding, enameling or using a torch in my shop. Many pieces reflect my love of sculpture and color. Many are wearable one-of-a-kind art pieces. I also enjoy telling a story whether it is the piece itself lending a story (my hoop earrings are upcycled from material leftover from replacing airplane struts) or one I make with components I have fabricated, purchased or found.

I love beads: pearls, turquoise, gemstones, tagua and acai beads. You will find my designs sprinkled with them from time to time but my favorite is manipulating metal. I use copper, brass, sterling silver and gold filled metal in my designs. My designs include fold form metalwork, hammering metal, enameling, wire wrapping and treating the metal to obtain unique patina colors. Many of my jewelry designs have a Rustic , Boho or Country Chic feel. The earthy, organic and natural products used attribute to this overall feel but my treatment of metal does as well.

Thanks to family and friends, I have been fortunate to have access to many master craftsmen, their technical tips and tricks, extra supplies, and enjoy the eco-friendly by-product of upcycling materials. My purchased acai and tagua beads are another way to be eco-friendly supporting this sustainable agricultural cash crop product from S. America.

I run a one person shop from our property overlooking the mountains of Northwest Georgia.

Thanks for supporting artisans working on their craft and allowing us to do what we love.

Creative and passionate about making something fun and unique to wear.. I like to find perfect beads or push the limit to bend, twist or hammer metal for a unique accessory item. I have always loved jewelry. I find designing and making it a blast.
