about JulsGems Vintage Fashions: history in the remaking.

JulsGems has evolved from a long time love affair with vintage pieces, and especially vintage clothing in particular.
I have always been a collector of things, as my mother before me. All manner of vintage "belongings" have always brought a special history and story with them that can't truly be found in new items.

My mother owned a thrift store for many years, which became my summertime playground and source for much fashion experimentation in my teenage years. My mother, sister and I would spent many a weekend thrift shopping within the various communities nearby for items for the shore or just for ourselves. And all the while I was unknowingly gaining knowledge of vintage fabrications through our little treasure hunts. I've only relatively recently come to realize that this knowledge can be difficult to teach, and often can only be learned through years of hands-on experience along with a true passion for previously-loved items.

When my mother sold her business, many of the items she had collected from our trips remained. They were too precious to sell with the store, but too many to simply keep. So we attempted selling them through consignment. This proved too heartbreaking, as the pieces were often undersold to unknown buyers or simply didn't reach out to enough customers in the relatively small community. It was such a shame to practically give them away to strangers who may not take care of them or treasure them as we had. Then I discovered Etsy, and an entire community of like-minded individuals who truly value vintage items as well as handcrafted, heartfelt pieces. I could tell this wouldn't be just another junk store where our finds would just be handed over for one-time halloween costumes or worse.

So far I have truly loved the experience of selling on Etsy and continuing to source more vintage pieces for your collecting pleasure. I won't be quitting my day job any time soon by any means, but the thrill of the hunt and the joy of finding a beautiful piece are their own reward. I really do hope you enjoy them and my Etsy shop as much as I do.

you will find all kinds of pieces in my Etsy shop, mainly vintage clothing, but also accessories or home decor. The pieces I chose are things that are dear to my own ♥ and hopefully will be to yours as well.

Returns and exchanges
All items are considered final sale, so please ensure you are fully aware about the item you are purchasing.
Especially in regards to vintage items, they are never going to be perfect, however I try to choose only items that are still in excellent or good wearable condition with only minor flaws or fixes required. I also try to describe items as accurately as possible, so please ask all the questions you like before purchasing to ensure you are 100% satisfied.

I will provide tracking numbers on shipments if available. If an item doesn't arrive, I will first send a copy of the receipts which are considered proof of shipment, and then attempt to recover your package/funds from Canada Post if possible. I cannot be held responsible for lost merchandise, but will do everything in my power to try to track it down for you. Receiving a refund for a lost item through the postal system can take up to 3 months, so please be patient with this process. Refunds for lost or damaged merchandise will be considered on a case by case basis and only when insurance is requested, and proof can be provided through the postal service that the item did not arrive. In a case where proof cannot be provided (ie. through tracking information) I will not be able to provide a refund.
Photo verification may be required if a claim is being made pertaining to damages.

Direct checkout allows buyers to authorize a payment transaction with any major credit card accepted by Etsy, including Etsy Gift Cards, or by bank transfer in authorized countries.

PayPal allows you to purchase using your credit card or by debiting directly from your bank account with the strictest privacy. You don't even have to necessarily have a PayPal account in some cases.

Items can be reserved for an agreed upon and reasonable amount of time. Once the deadline is surpassed, the hold will be removed without warning and the item will be available for resale to another purchaser.
Wouldn't you hate to miss out on an opportunity for something you loved just because it was on hold for someone else who possibly doesn't even buy it in the end? Please be considerate of others when requesting reserves.

If you really want something, I strongly advise to just buy it outright. If you're uncertain, then wait it out and take your chances. That way, if you're still thinking about it a couple days later, come back and get it....if it's still there, then it was meant to be.
Shipment expectations:
I will try to use airmail or tracked packages whenever possible. However in some cases ground service will be used, and unless you specify otherwise before purchasing, please beware that packages can take as long as 4-6weeks (in the case of surface or ground mail). Shipments will go out within 1-5 business days after payment, and take varying amounts of time depending on your location to arrive.
If you desire Express shipping, please convo me beforehand so that I may reprice accordingly. The same applies to insurance and multiple item purchases.
Tracking information is only included on some items that are insured, and at a higher cost, so unless you specify before purchasing so that I may adjust the cost, there will not always be any tracking information available.

Multiple item purchase:
Multiple item pricing is available! Since each piece is of varying size and weight I cannot list a "bought with another item" price, however if you provide me with your location details and the items you desire, I will be happy to reprice the shipping costs just for you.

When shipping internationally, the recipient may be required to pay customs on the item upon arrival. This is not for every case, however I am not responsible for any of these charges that may be incurred. By marking an item as gift, I will not be able to use the sales receipt as proof of value in the case where an item might be misplaced, therefore meaning I would be unable to issue a refund. So "gift" customs requests are not recommended.
Some items such as particular furs may not be allowed into your country. Please message me or be aware that these items may be intercepted by customs if not permissible. I am not responsible for items that do not arrive due to this reason.

I do mostly recycle shipping materials such as boxes as often as possible, but I will wrap your item with care nonetheless. If this item is to be a gift, please let me know so that I may address and wrap the item specifically for your recipient. If you desire a special handwritten note, please let me know in the 'notes to seller' at checkout.

Despite all these fussy rules and regulations, I am still 100% dedicated to your satisfaction, therefore please contact me before purchasing with any questions you might have so that I might set your mind at ease, or after the fact if you are not entirely satisfied. I will do whatever I can to make it right. A refund or partial refund might be considered on a case by case basis.
In the case of a repairable damage, the first solution would be to attempt to repair the item. Yet in the case where the buyer decides to return the item instead, all shipping costs will be the buyer's responsibility. Refunds are issued for item cost only.
