Veteran Picker Since 1976

Before I get into my boring story.... Do you know the difference between following and favoriting on Etsy? It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Follow people, favorite shops. When you follow someone, you see all the items and shops they favorite. But if you want to keep up with new additions to a particular shop, you have to favorite the shop.

Now. Do you want to know my shop history? I'll try to keep it brief.

My mother never liked old stuff. She liked new and modern. Mid Century Modern when it was fresh off the truck. I hated that style then. (Enough time has passed that I love it now.) I preferred the old, even though I was never exposed to good antiques. Momma couldn't understand why anyone would want that old, used furniture. But it somehow spoke to me.

One summer day in my twelfth year, I was home alone and bored out of my mind. I was desperate enough to look through a Good Housekeeping magazine and read an article about an antique dealer. Right then I knew that's what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I started going to yard and estate sales around 1976 and furnished my home with the pickings. I also began putting back things for my "future antique shop." The shop didn't come about until the 2000's, but I got my first booth and started selling on eBay in 1997. I've sold continuously in one way or another ever since. It's as much a part of me as breathing.

I did get to have the shop owner experience for a few years. Loved the shop, hated being tied down. When a new mall opened in town, I closed the shop and moved into a large booth there.

As I write this, you can find me here on Etsy, The Pickle Patch Antique Mall in Sylacauga, Alabama where we carry General Finishes Milk Paint, and Angel's Antique Mall in Opelika, Alabama where we carry a variety of smalls, furniture, both hand built by my husband and vintage, and GF Milk Paint.

And I'd love for you to visit the blog:

Picker, junker, junk diva, estate sale maven.... Or how about this? Item location, relocation, and resale specialist? Yeah. I like that. Getting up at the crack o' dawn on the weekends so you don't have to. Picking east Alabama and south Florida.

Shop policies

Last updated on June 9, 2016
Hi! I'm so happy to have you shopping at Just Vintage! New vintage items are added several times a week. These things come primarily from east central Alabama estate sales. "Virgin" items that have been lovingly (or not so lovingly) kept for years, hand picked by me. I get up at the crack o' dawn, give up my weekends, crawl in the dankest, darkest corners of basements, brave wasp nests and mice in out buildings, fight crowds all reaching for the same things, melt in the summer and freeze in the winter, all so you don't have to. But I do love it!
