About

A sweater's worst nightmare

Justifiably Julia was started in 2008 when I was in college. I can actually remember the exact moment it was born. I was standing in goodwill looking at a beautiful Robin's Egg blue cashmere sweater. The sweater has a stain in it, but was such a beautiful color, I remember thinking "there has got to be a way to go backwards!" As it turn out, women (and men) have been re-purposing sweaters for years and after many trial and errors, Justifiably Julia was born.
As the years went on, I realized I enjoy deconstructing sweaters much more than I enjoyed knitting and crocheting. I love the hunt of finding the perfect sweater, the precision of taking apart the seams, and the patience of slowly unraveling a garment that might not have been able to be used otherwise. I hope that you will enjoy taking these yarns and creating them into something new and beautiful!

I have been reclaiming yarn from sweaters since 2007, when I could not afford to work with the more expensive yarns due to college expenses. What began as a necessity quickly turned into an addiction!
