For many years I have been a passionate collector of Vintage Czech Bohemian Jewelry and decorative items. I was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and many
of my items are estate from my own family. During all these years I have learned
a lot about Czech jewelry and as it came to my attention, that many FAKES
are desacribed as antique or vintage items and descriptions are being misinterpreted, I have decided to inform and warn all these honest sellers. My assessment of the misrepresented Czech rhinestone works is corroborated by the antique and vintage jewelry experts of i.e. RubyLane and Enchantment Village Costume Jewelry where they have published an article on this issue: vintagecostumejewels.com/Info/Fake_Designer_Jewelry_Alert.htm#Czech_Uglies

👉 FAKE DESIGNS ALERT
Please be aware, that jewelry pieces or Christmas trees signed 'Husár D', Bijoux M.G or TABOO are FAKES - not old Czech traditional designer names or marks, as many sellers wrongly claim. Those companies did not exist at those times and these pieces are newly made fantasy pieces in vintage look. To describe them as vintage is a deception. Authentic Czech rhinestone jewelry and decorative pieces were always finished with a plating before they were to be sold. Most of these pieces that were made between the 1890s and 1930s was not marked nor signed. Rarely items were marked Czecho, Czecho-Slovakia, Czechoslovakia or Made in Czechoslovakia and those pieces were all plated on the back.
It is still possible, to find a genuine item with an unfinished or partially finished back that was never sold by the company that made it, but such pieces do not have tags with designer or company names. Some of the unmarked rhinestone jewelry and decorative items (Rhinestone trees) may date back to the 1950s-60s but definitely not to the 1930s as some shops claim, especially if the pieces contain AB stones, which were not developed until 1955 by Manfred Swarovski, son of Daniel Swarovski of the famous Austrian crystal ccompany.

👉 Husár D was founded in 2006, Taboo in 2014.
Mr. David Husár (c. 45) currently living in Jablonec (former Gablonz) in Czech Republic. Pls see the official Czech Trade Register: David Husár, Czech Republic: "Zabýváme se výrobou a prodejem štrasové a skleněné bižuterie". Translated: We are manufacturing and selling rhinestone and glass jewelry.
https://www.info-jablonec.cz/david-husar/index.html

There is no evidence of the names or signatures 'Husár D', Bijoux M.G or TABOO
in the history of Czech Jewelry, nothing is known about these mysterious manufacturers in the historical records in which they were supposed to have been so well known and successful in business. Besides oft that, would a true famous jewelry designer allow unfinished jewelry to be sold with his name attached to it …?
Lilien is a joint-venture project of t wo companies, founded in 2006.

👉 Don't buy antique or vintage Czech vintage Costume Jewelry online without
seeing a detailed photo of the back. If the back is unfinished AND signed it is a FAKE!
All these FAKES should not be posted among genuine beautiful Bohemian jewelry treasures.

Some history of Rhinestones:
Gablonz, a city in Bohemia, Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia) is the cradle of costume jewelry. The first artificial jewelry was produced in 18th century in Gablonz and was exported throughout Europe. Already in 1820 Gablonz makers exported more than 2½ bilion cut glass beads and rhinestones in a year worldwide. Beginning 1830's Gablonz craftsmen began making lines of fashion jewelry thousands tons of glass components and rhinestones were exported into the whole world, especially to the USA.
In 1918 the Czechs and Slovaks became united, were freed from the rule of Austria and Hungary and the land was called Czechoslovakia. Prior to World War I, the jewelry from this area was called Bohemian and mostly not marked. After WW I (1918) the jewelry was ocasionally marked with Czecho, Czecho-Slovakia, Czechoslovakia or Made in Czechoslovakia. These pieces are plated on the back.
