About

ALL ABOUT ME AND MY PASSION FOR MACHINE EMBROIDERY

I left my work place about 12 years ago. After a very short while, I was totally bored. A friend of mine suggested I try my hand at Sewing.

This was totally funny to me, as I was never one of those ladies who sewed, knitted, baked, etc. But I thought, what the heck - nothing to lose.

She showed me how to make a pair of shorts for my daughters. This was pretty easy I thought, so decided to start learning how to make patterns.

I joined a lady who was teaching pattern drafting and was soon sewing clothes. It was Fun!!

In this class I made a very good friend, who is still a very good friend of mine. She was going to a Craft Class at our local Bernina. To begin with she was making a lot of "old" fashioned crafts, doilies, etc. This did not interest me at all.

One day though, she came to class with a Backpack that she had made for her daughter. I was stunned. Absolutely beautiful. So, after class, off I went off to my local Bernina to sign up to make this Backpack.

The owner told me that I would have to start with the Beginners Craft Class, which meant I had to make the doilies, etc, as I was learning different techniques - make my own binding, quilting, sewing binding on, sewing zips in, etc.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the different techniques, as they made me a better sewer, I think. For years, I did all the different Craft ideas and loved every minute of it.

While at the Bernina Classes, I saw all these wonderful "BIG" machines that could do Embroidery.

Hmmm, not only could I then embellish my own fabrics with embroidery, there would be so much more that I could do with an Embroidery Machine. So, my first embroidery machine was a Bernina Deco 650, with only a 4x4 (100x100) size hoop. This satisfied me for a "LITTLE" while, because it wasnt too long after I got this, that I decided, no no no, I wanted an Embroidery Machine that could also do bigger designs.

My Husband could see that I was sticking to this hobby and decided to buy me my first Artista - a 185. I was over the moon, as this was not just an Embroidery Machine, it could also sew and to top it all, it had a 5x7 hoop. YAY !!!

This I did for quite a number of years. I used to sit for hours and watch how the embroideries would stitch out - this fascinated me to no end.

About four to five years ago, I asked my husband to please buy me the Artista Digitizing Program. Thank goodness he did - these programs are not cheap!!

I can honestly say, that because of all those very many hours spent watching the different embroideries stitch out, this helped me when I finally decided that I wanted to learn Digitizing. It took me an entire year of playing (constantly - every day), before I was confident enough to sell my designs.

I belonged to one of those Embroidery Subscription Sites, and on that I met the owner of SewnSew Designs - Trisch. We soon became very good friends and she approached me to sell my designs on her site. This was a great opportunity for me and I was very grateful.

About two years ago, I bought my second Artista - a 730. My husband decided that I had too many machines and if I wanted it, I would have to purchase it myself. So off I went to Mommy - love you Mommy - she loaned me the money and I paid her back a stipulated amount of money (with interest) every month. This I did over a two year period, with the money that I made from selling my designs. There were plenty of months that I had made no money, but my Mom, said not to worry, as long as I paid her back when I did make some sales. My Mom - my Rock!!

It was by chance, that I came upon Etsy - cannot really remember how - most probably my "googling" again. Have to say though, that I am extremely happy with my little Shop here on Etsy and I hope that you are too.

I have been opened almost a year now. My mornings are spent digitizing and stitching out of my designs and my afternoons are spent with my girls - with a little bit of work here and there where possible (hahaha).

I am constantly on the lookout for gorgeous clipart, as this is what I use for my Digitizing. There are some great shops here on Etsy that I love shopping at.

I love what I do!! Would not change it for anything. Digitizing and Machine Embroidery are my PASSION.

I am also open to ideas from you, my Customers. If you are looking at a set of designs or even a single design that You would like Digitized, please contact me.
