Updates

This hot pepper onesie is making me long for summer weather and days spent in the garden. Meanwhile, it is 43 degrees outside my door today :-(
I'm currently working on a new line of baby/toddler quilts and bedding. I can't wait to unveil my creations, but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek at some of the new fabrics.
So many fruit and veggie gift sets are finished, tagged, packaged, and ready to find a new home.

About

Made with thought, love, and care...

Hello and welcome. Thank you for stopping in and taking the time to read a little bit about me. I am Monika Briggs, owner of KID things and now HOME things as well.

Since I was a little girl I have been making something. It is in my nature. I was born and spent the first 10 years of my life in Poland. When I was growing up, the women in my life knew how to sew and knit and crochet, and someone was always working on a project. Beautiful things were not always available for purchase in stores, but the women in my life made them happen anyway.

It is only natural that I learned how to crochet at the age of six from my mom. I was sewing (by hand of course) around the same time, doing embroidery and knitting soon after. My dolls were the best-dressed in the neighborhood. I finally convinced my mom to let me use her sewing machine when I was in high school. By that time, I was making things for myself, creating one-of-a-kind creations from thrift store finds.

Eventually, I grew up. I am now a tax accountant by day (and sometimes at night and on the weekends). I love my job. At the same time, I NEED to be creative. My hands are never idle. I knit when I watch TV or in the car (as a passenger of course). I always have a sketchbook with me on the train. After my kids go to bed, I sit down at the sewing machine for an hour or two. My mind is ALWAYS going, thinking up all sorts of ideas.

KID things is my creative outlet. I have designed every product. I am the seamstress of all you see. I have knit every single baby hat, every single sweater in my shop. I wear so many other hats here though. I order supplies. I do the ironing and packaging and shipping. I am also in charge of photography, marketing, and social media. All of these roles are interesting and challenging in their own way. I love it all!

Thinking of a newborn baby in California wearing a blueberry hat or a toddler in Australia taking a nap under one of my quilts makes me happy. You see, all things in my shop are made with thought, love, and care. Really, there is so much care and attention to detail in every product I sell! Etsy has allowed me to own a creative business, to share what I love to do with a great community of people, and I am so grateful for this opportunity. I appreciate the ability to make something unique and special and share it with like-minded customers. I take special pride in customer service and value every person who puts their trust in my hands. When you contact KID things, you contact me. I thank you for your interest, your business, and your support.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
I accept credit cards, PayPal, money orders, and personal checks.

Custom orders will not be started until payment is made. As soon as I receive payment, I will start the project.

If a payment made through PayPal is not received within 72 hours, the sale will be canceled and items will be re-listed.

If a payment made via check or money order is not received within 14 days, the sale will be canceled and items will be re-listed.
Shipping
I ship all items within two business days. Custom items will ship as soon as they are paid for and finished. I always try to find the least expensive shipping, unless otherwise specified. If you need a quote on an expedited shipping, please contact me. I can also insure a shipment if specified.

This message applies especially to purchases of several items in one order, but is valid on all transactions: I will refund all excess shipping charges, where the difference is $2.00 or more. Etsy's calculated shipping has really streamlined the shipping process, but it is still not great when several items are shipped together.

International orders are shipped via the U.S. Postal Service. Please let me know if you would prefer UPS or FedEx shipping at an additional charge. International buyers are responsible for any and all customs charges, taxes, and other fees required by your country of residence.
Refunds and Exchanges
Your satisfaction is my first priority. If you are not satisfied with an item, for whatever reason, please contact me. I will be glad to exchange or fix your item. If you prefer, I will refund your money as long as the item is in new, unworn condition. I cannot refund your shipping amount. The money will be refunded as soon as I receive the product back from you.
